Player Bio

A threatening seamer and a lower-order pinch-hitter, Ben Raine is a professional English cricketer for Durham who has forged a reputation as a volatile bowler off the back of some inspirational performances for his former County, Leicestershire.

Raine arrived at the English domestic circuit in 2011 for Durham and was restricted to just one first-class and List A apiece for his home county.  After being released by Durham, the all-rounder penned down a contract with Leicestershire at the start of the 2013 season.

Raine grabbed the headlines when he scored a scintillating century against Birmingham Bears in the T20 Vitality Blast and scalped over 50 first-class wickets in 2018. The southpaw continued to advance his game in the East Midlands and came back to Durham as a well-rounded cricketer across all formats at the start of 2019.

The Durham superstar was roped in by the Northern Superchargers after being snapped up as the first Vitality Wildcard draft pick. Raine, who has been in some form in this year’s T20 Blast will play under Faf du Plessis in the inaugural edition of The Hundred. A specialist in the shortest format, Raine would be hoping to carry forward his form from the Blast into the coveted tournament.
