Syeda Aroob Shah

A 17-year old bright leg-spinner from Karachi, Syeda Aroob Shah was just 13 when she represented Karachi Women in the National Women’s Championship in 2017. Syeda came into the limelight when she clean bowled the-then skipper of Pakistan Javeria Khan who was playing in the domestic circuit at the tender age of 15.

Syeda started out as a net bowler and broke into the Pakistan emerging team in 2019 after a productive Women's One-Day Championship, where she finished as the leading wicket-taker with 14 strikes in five matches. Shah got her first shot at international cricket in an ODI match against Bangladesh women at home. She bowled her full quota of ten overs and conceded only 37 runs picking up two massive wickets. Her T20I debut came a month and a half later against England on December 17th, 2019. Shah conceded just 21 runs in 4 overs and took the key wicket of English wicket-keeper Amy Jones.

At just 16 years of age, the Karachi-born leggie has represented the Women in Green in both ODI’s and T20’s and she is regarded as a major hope for the future. As well as the conventional leg break, she has a bag full of variations and bowls a very good flipper which has troubled some of the best batters in the world.
