Player Bio

A talented batting all-rounder who can occasionally bowl right-arm medium pace, Nadine de Klerk has been a regular feature for the South Africa women's squad ever since her debut in 2017.

She was first included in the home series against a visiting Indian team and De Klerk made her much-awaited ODI debut in the third match of the series. She bowled 3 overs but could not scalp her maiden ODI wicket as the Indian team won the match by seven wickets.

After returning from India, De Klerk went back to the domestic circuit and played for Western Province in the domestic T20 league. She took 6 wickets in 4 games, but it was her astonishing average of 11 with the ball that caught the attention of the selectors.

In Feb 2018, De Klerk was a surprise inclusion in the T20I squad to face India at home.

In 2019, De Klerk was made the skipper of the South African squad for the Emerging T20I series against Bangladesh. The Proteas secured a T20 series clean sweep over Bangladesh and thumped them 3-0. Their skipper, De Klerk played the innings of the tournament in the final T20I. Batting first, South Africa scored 147 runs, and de Klerk slammed an unbeaten 83 of 53 deliveries and was adjudged the player of the match.

In the form of her life, de Klerk joined Brisbane Heat for the Women’s Big Bash League season 6 as one of their overseas players.

Arguably one of the best all-rounders in the game at the moment, De Klerk has established her place in the South African team for the shorter formats. She can contribute with both the bat & the ball and this makes her a valuable asset for any team she plays for.
