A fiery medium pace all-rounder, Sathya Sandeepani first took to cricket when she was just 16 years old. The Galle-born youngster earned her place in the Sri Lankan squad in 2020 after some impressive performances for Sri Lanka Emerging Women and the 2019 South Asian Games.

The medium pace allrounder struck an unbeaten 96 off just 48 balls against the Maldives in the South Asian Games in late 2019, along with picking up 5 wickets. On the back of some staggering performances with both bat and bowl, she was named in Sri Lanka’s squad for the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Backed up by her skipper and the coaching staff, Sathya was given her maiden T20I cap on February 29th, 2020 against India Women. It was rather a forgettable match for Sathya as she got dismissed on a duck and bowled just one over with the bowl conceding 11 runs in a lost cause. After the group match against India, the youngster was sidelined from the entire tournament and hasn’t played an international fixture since.
