Player Bio

A technically sound batswoman, Fran Wilson made her international debut in 2010 but was absent from the international scene for the next 5 years.

A right-handed middle-order player, Wilson was selected in the ECB developmental squad for the European Championship in 2010. She impressed the selectors with a fluent 76 against the Netherlands and an unbeaten 53 against Scotland and was drafted in the national squad for the ODI and T20I tour of Sri Lanka in 2010.

She was retained for the ODI tour of Australia in 2011 but scored back-to-back ducks in the two matches that she played and was sidelined from the squad for the next 5 years.

Wilson decides to shift her base from Somerset to Middlesex for the 2015 County Championship and impressive performances throughout the season earned her a place in the Test squad for the one-off match against Australia in 2015. However, the Farnham-born did not feature in the match and had to watch it from the sidelines.

Two years later, the Surrey cricketer made her Test debut against Australia in the 2017 Ashes series. In her first and only Test match to date, Wilson was unimpressive with the bat, scoring just 13 runs in the match and struggled against the moving ball.

In February 2019, Wilson was awarded a full central contract by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Having made her debut at the start of the previous decade, Wilson has struggled to keep her place in the national side in all three forms of the game. A fluent player when on song, Wilson has not justified her talent at the international level and her inability to convert good starts into big scores has hampered her career so far.
