Player Bio

Another up-and-coming fast-bowler for South Africa, Glenton Stuurman represents Eastern Province in the country’s domestic circles. Touted to be the successor of Vernon Philander, according to former Proteas cricketer, Robin Peterson, Stuurman has the mould to be a Test cricketer.

At 24, Stuurman had his breakout season during the 2016 Africa T20 Cup, where he was the leader of the pact for South Western Districts. He was also the leading wicket-taker in the 2017–18 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge and repeated the feat in the 2018–19 CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup.

His progress was rewarded by the national selections as he received his maiden call-up for South Africa. In November 2020, he was named in the limited-overs series against England, before getting named in the Test squad against touring Sri Lanka later that year. However, the emerging pacer wasn’t fortunate enough to get his due opportunity then.

In early 2021, the Oudtshoorn-born got his maiden international cap when played a T20I against Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium. The seamer didn’t scalp any wicket then, but his lines and lengths were impressive enough to know his prowess.

In November 2021, Stuurman was named in South Africa 'A' squad to play against a touring India A. He is dangerous who’s known for his pace, accuracy and ability to bowl long spells on flat surfaces. That's a very appropriate skill to cultivate for international cricket.
