Player Bio

A right-handed batsman and a quality fast-medium pace bowler, Lewis Gregory is an English international cricketer who has been an integral cog in the Somerset camp since 2008. As a batsman, Gregory carries a solid technique and also the capability to move the ball both ways.

Once an England U-19 skipper, Gregory has been captaining his county since 2018 in the T20 Blast. However, after playing professionally for a decade, the all-rounder lived his long-time dream of donning the English jersey in 2019.

The Plymouth-born started at the age-group level by representing the country at U-13, U-15, U-17, and U-19 levels, before making his first-class debut. Soon, the youngster made his limited-overs debut for Somerset. However, it wasn’t until the 2014 season, when Gregory began to produce regular performances across formats.

The following year, the all-rounder was just inches away from making his international debut against Ireland but unfortunately missed the opportunity due to a back injury. The allrounder played a couple of seasons with extreme pain but made plans to shift to Middlesex but the captaincy role came in between.

Since 2018, Gregory has worked on fitness standards that have also increased his pace. The fitness also made the allrounder a better player against both red and white balls, leading Somerset to the Championship final.

A year later, the Brisbane Heat cricketer was named in the Test squad for the one-off match against Ireland at Lord's but didn't play then. Though after a month, he made his T20I debut against Zealand. The Islamabad United allrounder didn’t get to bat or bowl on debut but in the second game, he became the second English bowler to scalp a wicket on his ball.

Over the years, the Englishman has represented various franchises in franchise leagues. In 2021, Gregory was drafted into the Trent Rockets’ squad for the inaugural edition of 'The Hundred', making the franchise a stronger unit.
