Player Bio

Dilbar Hussain is a Pakistani professional cricketer whose claim to fame came in Australia when he was booked by Big Bash League’s (BBL) franchise, Melbourne Stars. Hussain is a right-arm fast-bowler who is known for nailing yorkers and shuffling them with his bluffing slower ones, which makes him a T20 specialist.

Hussain comes from a humble background, before fully switching to cricket, he used to work on agricultural land in his village near Faisalabad. At 25, under Aaqib Javed’s mentorship, the pacer played his first hard-ball game in Faisalabad in 2018 and then toured Australia with the Qalandars development squad.

Hussain made his BBL debut against Brisbane Heat where he scalped the wicket of AB de Villiers at the MCG but leaked runs at an economy rate of 14. However, the seamer showcased his prowess of death-bowling.

Later, he made his first-class debut for Southern Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

During the 2021 Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft, the management picked the promising pacer to be a part of Lahore Qalandars’ setup. At 28, Hussain is just one step away from living his dream of wearing the Pakistani Greens.
