Player Bio

T20 leagues across the globe have allowed uncapped players to showcase their talent to the world. Pakistan Super League is one such league where unknown players have made their mark. Umaid Asif is one among those who rose to prominence through PSL.

A lanky right-arm pace bowler, Asif is a late bloomer who first caught the attention in the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League. In his debut game for Peshawar Zalmi against Islamabad United, Asif grabbed a 4-fer and helped his side beat the opposition with ease. He could have bagged a fifer on his debut, had it not been for the number of dropped catches in the game.

His cricketing journey has had its fair share of roadblocks. In 2014, he was banned for a year after a failed drug test.

Ahead of the 2020-21 domestic season, Asif was roped in by the Balochistan cricket team.

For the 2021 Pakistan Super League season, Karachi went for the pacer and managed to draft him in their squad.

Asif became an overnight sensation for his debut spell in the PSL, but has struggled with off field issues which have hampered his domestic career so far.
