Prince Balwant Rai is an emerging leg-spinner from Punjab who was picked up by the Mumbai Indians in the 2020 IPL auction. Going by their usual trend of unearthing rough diamonds, Mumbai invested in Balwant Rai even though he hasn’t played senior cricket for Punjab. He has only represented Punjab at the U-16 and U-23 levels.
Since he is just a back-up for Rahul Chahar, it will be quite difficult for Balwant Rai to break into the Mumbai Indians line-up. However, he could learn a lot from being involved in the squad and could possibly be in Mumbai’s future plans too.
