A prolific all-rounder, Shahbaz Ahmed made his List A debut for Bengal in the 2018-2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 20 September 2018. This young lad had been a part of various formats and tournaments of cricket including his debut for Bengal in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy and his T20 debut for Bengal in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

After having assigned him a difficult position in the side in just his second year in the Ranji Trophy, Bengal has produced innumerable come-from-behind performances with Shahbaz playing a pivotal role. With 35 wickets and 499 runs, Shahbaz Ahmed has been the centre of Bengal's Ranji campaign in 2019-20. Possessing a batting average of over 30 in all formats while also being economical with the ball in his hand, Ahmed has been a regular feature in his domestic team.

For the Indian Premier League 2020, Shahbaz was acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the base price of INR 20 lakh. In his debut season for the IPL giants, Shahbaz featured in only two occasions scalping two wickets. His breakthrough season in the IPL arrived in 2021 when he received a surprise promotion in the RCB batting lineup. With Shahbaz gaining promotion in the RCB batting lineup, his value as an all-rounder has increased and it will be exciting to see how he performs in his new role at the RCB.
