Player Bio

Born in Lahore, Hussain Talat is a left-hand batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who plays professional cricket for Pakistan national team and Islamabad United in PSL.

Talat had a dream start to his domestic career. At the age of 16, he scored 272 runs with the highest score of 141 which fetched him a contract from the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited in Karachi for the Ramadan T20 cup 2013. The batting allrounder made his List A debut playing for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited against the National Bank of Pakistan on April 5, 2013. With scores of 67, 57, 12 and 141 in his first few domestic games during the President’s Cup, Talat was offered a part in the Pakistan U-19 team in 2013-14.

The player’s ruthless batting and all-round performances in red-ball cricket at domestic level earned him his first PSL contract from Islamabad United. He made his debut against Quetta Gladiators and scored a splendid fifty for the team and won the game for Islamabad United by just 1 run.

After his exploits in domestic cricket for over 5 years, in March 2018, he was named in the Twenty20 squad against the West Indies and made his T20I debut in the first match on April 1, 2018. He was adjudged Man of the Match in his debut match after his impressive all-round performance. In October 2018, the youngster was named in Pakistan’s team of 2018 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, and later in the following month, he was added to the squad for the South Africa series. After 6 years of knocking on the selector’s door with some magnificent performances, Talat finally made his ODI debut against South Africa on January 22, 2019.

Talat being an all-rounder, often used to struggle with the line and length. However, with the seam-up ability, he adds a balance to the side, especially in red-ball cricket. Yet to make a debut in Test cricket, Talat could be the revelation for Pakistan to chip in some handy runs in the lower-middle order.
