Brandon King

A cricketing graduate from the Kingston Cricket Club, Brandon King has been a prolific domestic run-getter from an early age and has done well as a middle-order stroke player within the teams he has played for.

The top-order batsman was a blowout in the U-19 level as he went on to represent Jamaica and then West Indies in the 2014 U-19 World Cup. His first-ever international tournament was a cast down for him, managing 59 runs in the whole event. 

Despite his poor run, he made his first-class debut against Trinidad and Tobago because the selectors placed their faith in him for a good comeback. The Kingston-born made his first-class debut on 20th February 2015 and instantly made an impact with a decent knock of 71 runs in the first innings, despite their loss.

King broke into the national side on the back of stellar performance in CPL 2019. The Jamaican smashed 132 runs in 72 balls including 7 sixes against Barbados Tridents in the Caribbean Premier League which became the highest-ever score by a batsman in the coveted tournament.

Right after the CPL, the flashy batsman was added to the West Indies ODI squad and T20I squads for their series against Afghanistan in India in October 2019. Both the series was a memorable one for the youngster as he made valuable contributions, clean sweeping Afghanistan.

Having just played 11 T20Is and 4 ODIs, Brandon King is a well-established all-rounder in the domestic circuit who is yet to establish his name for the Men in Maroon. Looking at his recent forms in the Super 50 Cup, he would be hoping to take his game to the next level and secure his spot in the national squad.
