Player Bio

Simi Singh is a bowling allrounder and has been representing Ireland since 2017. He is an off-spinner and a reliable middle-order batsman who made his international debut at 30. The all-rounder is an Indian-born cricketer who migrated to Dublin in 2006 for higher studies, although his passion chased him down and Simi donned the Irish green jersey after 11 years of dedication.

At the age-group level, the all-rounder represented Punjab at Under-15 and Under-17 levels but could not graduate to the next level. After trying his luck in India, Simi shifted his base to Ireland and used to play the sport only on weekends.

From playing cricket occasionally, Simi planned to make it big in the Emerald Isle. The allrounder joined Old Belvedere Cricket Club to make the transition. In 2017, he joined Leinster Lightning to make his List-A and T20 debut and made a name in domestic circles.

Just in a single season, Simi established himself to earn the Irish cap to represent the team at the highest level. In May 2017, the all-rounder for named in the ODI series against New Zealand to make his international debut. A year later, he made his maiden T20I appearance as well.

Since his T20I debut, Simi has been a regular in Ireland setup, still, the Bhatlana-born went back to the domestic grind in 2019 to make minor tweaks in his game. Simi added a few more variations to his bowling arsenal and polished his batting technique to become the leading run-scorer and the wicket-taker in the 2019 domestic One-Day tournament.

Following that season, Simi was named in the T20Is series against India. Once a player who had a dream to don the Blue jersey had to face the Men in Blue. The allrounder faced the mighty Indians in two games where he was caught up in nerves to come up with poor performances.

However, Simi is a quality cricketer who has the mantle for the highest level. The Punjab-based tweaker has now played quite a handful number of ODI and T20I games for Ireland, and it is evident that Simi has what it takes to win big matches against quality sides with both bat and ball.
