Player Bio

Jake Libby is a right-handed batsman who plays for Worcestershire in the English county.

The batter made his first class debut for Cardiff MCCU against Glamorgan in 2014. He had an unimpressive start to his county career, scoring just 5 runs in his debut innings and looked quite rusty against the pace bowlers.

After playing for MCCU, Libby was offered a trial at Nottinghamshire on the recommendation of his coaches. He made his second XI Championship debut for Nottinghamshire against Warwickshire in 2014, and made an instant impact, slamming an unbeaten 225 and was not shy of taking on the new ball bowlers of Warwickshire.

On the back of that performance, Libby was quickly drafted in the first XI and in his debut first class match for Nottinghamshire, he became the first person in 68 years to make a century on debut for Nottinghamshire, when he struck a majestic 108 against Sussex on a typical English green top wicket at Trent Bridge.

The 2015 season was nothing more than a horror show for Libby, who ruptured his ligaments and missed the majority of the season. Once he came back in 2016, the right-handed batter was not the same and struggled to find the rhythm.

After a string of disappointing performances, Libby decided to move to Worcestershire to try out his luck and get some play time.

Pre-injury Jake Libby was cut from a different cloth. He was a natural timer of the ball and was a confident player. However, post his ligament injury, the confidence dipped down and Libby was not the same player anymore. Now at Worcestershire, he has a chance to rejuvenate his career once again.
