Player Bio

One of the most promising all-rounders to ever grace the English domestic circuit, James Harris is a professional cricketer for Middlesex County. Having previously been regarded as primarily a bowler, James’ batting prowess came on in leaps and bounds during the 2019 season, averaging over 40 in both Test and One-day format. He was the first 17-year-old to take a seven-wicket haul and earned a full call-up to the England T20 squad in 2012 although he was not selected.

After making his debut in 2007, Welshman Harris has enjoyed a long county career with Glamorgan and, since 2013, Middlesex. He has over 500 first-class wickets, including a career-best of 9/34 against Durham before claiming 16 wickets in seven red-ball appearances as Middlesex lifted the Division One title in 2016.

Long touted as an international prospect, representing England Lions, the Swansea-born all-rounder dream of representing England at the top-most level never became true. His career started declining after 2017 and he started to play less frequently. Harris bounced back in the summer of 2018 when he scalped 61 championship wickets, the most by anyone in the country and averaged over 30 with the bat.

A true all-rounder, his experience and temperament are certainly helpful for the young cricketers making their way into the club from the Academy.
