Player Bio

George Rhodes is an English professional cricketer who has played for Worcestershire while representing Leicestershire. Graduating from the Worcestershire Academy, after playing age-group for the club, George became the third-generation cricketer from the Rhodes family. He is the Grandson of ex-Nottinghamshire player, William Rhodes, and the son of Worcestershire's director of cricket, Steve Rhodes.

Both the ex-gens were wicket-keepers, however, George is a middle-order batter who bowls occasional off-breaks too. At the age of 22, he made his debut for Worcestershire during the Royal London One-Day Cup, but Rhodes started representing the club when he was 13-year-old.

Rhodes made his Championship debut against Northamptonshire in 2016. He initially started as a spinner who could only bat in the lower order. However, as his career with the county progressed, he started to grip the bat better to fine-tune as a batting all-rounder.

The allrounder made his maiden century in the domestic 50-over cup, against Yorkshire, in 2019. But Rhodes’ best came with the ball, in the shortest format, when he spun to bag 4 for 13 against Birmingham Bears. Later at the end of 2019, he signed a three-year contract with Leicestershire, to become a utility player in the coming future.
