Player Bio

Brett D’Oliveira has quite a legacy to take forward in life. A third generation cricketer to represent Worcestershire, his grandfather, Basil, went onto record books as a black member of the England national team who fought against apartheid policy and was denied to travel to South Africa with the England squad in 1968.

A batting allrounder by profession, Oliveira made his first class debut for Worcestershire against Warwickshire in 2012. In a county game against Glamorgan, Oliveira struck a wonderful 202 and it was the first time in first-class history that a grandfather, father and son had all registered double centuries in county cricket.

Oliveira worked closely with Terry Jenner, who mentored Shane Warne in his early cricketing days. Jenner advised Oliveira to abandon his thoughts of being a fast bowler, and concentrate more on his leg spin.

The Worcester born player continued to perform well for Worcestershire and the summer of 2016 was special for the all-rounder. He struck three centuries in first class cricket, which included a gritty 128 against a solid bowling lineup of Essex.

In the 2018 and 2019 season, Oliveira captained his side in the absence of the regular skipper, Moeen Ali.

A great asset to the Worcestershire squad since 2012, Oliveira has been a key player for his County side in all formats of the game.
