Player Bio

Jayden Seales lit the centre stage when he bagged 5 for 55 in a historic win when West Indies registered a Test victory against Pakistan for the first time in 44 years at Sabina Park. That match became more special for the right-arm pacer as he was involved in a 17-run match-winning partnership with Kemar Roach. Although the young pacer is much more than that.

Born in Trinidad, Sealas was part of the West Indies U19 team that played the 2020 World Cup in 2020. After the multinational tournament, he was contracted by the Trinidad & Tobago Knight Riders, even before making his List-A or first-class debut. On his CPL debut, the teenager scalped the wicket of Nicholas Pooran to prove his prowess. Later in the season, he played six T20 games to bag eight wickets at some exciting numbers.

Later in 2020, the Trinidadian made his List-A debut for his country in the regional Super50, where he played for Kieron Pollard’s team. The seamer bowled some quick spells and his notable performance came in the final. In the following year, he made his first-class debut as well.

Seales’ emerging finesse could not be ignored for long and he was rewarded with a West Indies call-up for the Test series against South Africa in mid-2021. He made his Test debut, after playing just a solitary first-class game, and scalped three Protea wickets, including a wicket in the first over he bowled.

A 19-year-old Seales played one more game, before playing in the historic Test against Pakistan at Kingston in 2021. During the CPL9 draft, the pacer was named in the Knight Riders squad, where he will share the dressing room with some legends of the game. The Trinidadian may have a small sample size, but he promises, he’s one for the future.
