Player Bio

Sediqullah Atal is an aggressive left-handed opening batter of Afghanistan. He was born on August 12, 2001, in Logar - a province known for its burgeoning cricket culture. He blossomed in the local leagues to cultivate as a local sensation for his cricketing journey.

He began his professional career with his T20 debut for the Kabul Eagles in the Shpageeza Cricket League in September 2020. However, he didn't take too long to make lasting impressions in the shortest of formats.

Soon after his consistent domination in T20s, he made his List A debut for Band-e-Amir Region in the Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament in October 17 2021.

Atal earned his first T20I cap in March 2023 against Pakistan as a 21-year-old. Although he didn’t have the best of debuts as he managed to score 11 runs.

The batting prodigy's claim to fame came in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in October 2024, where he smashed 368 runs in five innings.

During that tournament, he had hit scores of 83, 95, 52, 83, and 55, earning him the Player of the Tournament accolade which propelled Afghanistan A to their maiden Emerging Asia Cup title.

Atal's ODI debut followed the Emerging Asia Cup. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in November 2024.

He was a part of Afghanistan's squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2024, where they summoned England for the second successive time in a 50-over ICC event. However, the southpaw rose through the ranks during their fixture against Australia, hitting an emphatic 85.

The young batter's physical presence complements his technical prowess. His left-handed batting stance offers a strategic advantage, often disrupting traditional bowling lines and lengths.
