Player Bio

Son of Pakistan’s former spinner, Abdul Qadir, Usman has a similar action like his father. A right-arm leg-break bowler, Qadir made his international debut for Pakistan in 2020.

Impressed by his leg-spin bowling in the U19 circuit, former Australian cricketer, Darren Barry urged Qadir to move to Australia and join Adelaide Cricket Club. However, Qadir couldn’t quite continue to deliver on a regular basis and a dip in form in the domestic arena saw him shift to Western Australia to try his luck down under.

Qadir made his debut for Western Australia in the 2018/19 JLT One-Day Cup. He picked up 3 for 50 and propelled a victory for his team. Later that day, Qadir made his intentions clear of playing for the Aussies in the 2020 T20 World Cup.

He figured out that gaining citizenship is a tough ask, and as a result, Qadir came back to his home country and was eventually selected in Pakistan’s T20I squad to face the Aussies in 2019. However, he did not feature in any of the T20 matches on that tour.

The leggie finally made his much-awaited T20I debut against Zimbabwe in 2020 November. The spinner took 1 wicket for 24 runs as Pakistan won the T20 match with ease.

Still relatively new in the international arena, Qadir has the talent to succeed at the highest level. He is raw at the moment, but with proper guidance, Qadir could be Pakistan’s spin spearhead in the upcoming years.
