Player Bio

Amad Butt is a tall right arm fast bowler who has also shown some with the bat in the lower order. The allrounder is a Pakistan’s professional cricketer who plays for Habib Bank Limited at the domestic level, and represents Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The fast-bowling allrounder hails from Sialkot and known to generate good pace and bounce on dead Asian pitches. Starting his career with his domestic side, Butt was named in the Pakistan’s squad for the Under-19 World Cup in 2014 to have a memorable event. With the ball, he picked 5 wickets and played some vital part with the bat too.

After the World Cup, in 2015, Butt debuted in First-class cricket and his List A career also kickstarted a few months later. He had a good first season in red-ball cricket, grabbing 27 wickets at a healthy average of 21 and a fine strike rate of 37. In 2018, the pacer topped the wicket-taker’s charts during the entire 2018-19 season, across both One-Day and T20 domestic competitions.

Butt’s success in domestic cricket meant a PSL contract wasn’t too far. The allrounder became a popular entity for the scouts in the T20 league. He has represented Islamabad United and currently, he has been associated with the Zalmi.

The allrounder might not have made his international debut yet but has been on the national selectors’ radar for quite a time now. In 2016, Butt earned his maiden call-up for the one off T20I against England. Three years later, he was again named in the T20I squad for their series against Bangladesh, before getting selected for the series against South Africa in 2021. The allrounder hasn’t been fortunate to wear Pakistan’s cap but he is surely a player for the future.
