Player Bio

The first thing which is bound to come to your mind after seeing New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson is undoubtedly his towering height. Standing tall at 6’8”, he is definitely one of the tallest fast bowlers going around. He is also a reliable lower middle-order batsman and proved his credentials as a batsman in his maiden Test against India early in 2020. It was a gutsy knock that paved for a Kiwis win from a situation of relative discomfort.

Quite naturally with his height, Jamieson tends to extract steep bounce from the pitch and could go onto become a vital cog in the New Zealand bowling line-up in the coming years. He also has the ability to move the ball around both ways having displayed his skills with the ball in his debut series against India.

Born and brought up in Auckland, Jamieson’s moment of recognition came when he was plying his trade for Canterbury in the domestic circuit. A spell of 6/7 in the 2019 Super Smash made the selectors turn their heads and a national call-up was inevitable in the coming months. In his first 4 Tests, Jamieson picked up 20 wickets and was making the ball talk.

Even in the series against West Indies in December 2020, Jamieson was at his imperious best bagging 11 wickets in a couple of matches. He also starred with the bat in both the Test series against India and West Indies and will look to carry on from the dream start he had in international cricket.
