Player Bio

Jason Kila is a genuine allrounder from Papua New Guinea, who has been bearing their flag since 2008. Kila is a left-handed batsman who bowls slow left-arm orthodox and is also a brilliant fielder. He is also a former U-19 cricketer who represented his nation during Junior World Cup, back in Malaysia in 2008.

Born in Port Moresby, Kila first proved his prowess at the Under-15 level for PNG and later played in the U19 World Cup. A couple of years later, the allrounder was named John Reva's deputy for the 2010 edition of the competition in New Zealand and then signed an assignment to play grade cricket in Brisbane on scholarship.

Kila proceeded to be selected as a part of the Papua New Guinea squad for the 2011 World Cricket League Division Three, where he played 5 matches, helping them earn promotion to 2011 World Cricket League Division Two.

The Port Moresby-born then made his List-A and first-class debuts in the 2018-19 season. The following summer, when PNG received their ODI status, Kila made his ODI debut against UAE in the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. His T20 debut came against the Philippines, in 2019, and has been a regular for Papua New Guinea thereafter.

At 31, the allrounder’s numbers are that appealing but some of the sensational performances, with both bat and ball, tell that Kila can be a force in the upcoming T20 World Cup of 2021.
