Waheed Ahmed

Waheed Ahmed has been a senior player in the United Arab Emirates cricket team, since his T20 debut back in 2015, however, he made his international debut only in 2019. Ahmed is a medium pacer by craft and has been heavily involved in nurturing young players.

Born in Pakistan and raised in the United Arab Emirates, Ahmed is an astute fast-bowler who has mastered the art of bowling in low and dead pitches of the UAE and the sub-continent. The pacer has numerous variations in his quiver which he uses in the middle phase of the game to outsmart the batters.

The Sahiwal-born first played for UAE, back in 2015, when he played a T20 against England Lions at Dubai. However, like various Emirati players, Ahmed had waited too long to make his international debut. 

Aged 33, Ahmed made his T20I debut against the Netherlands in August 2019. He was also part of the squad for the T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the UAE, played in October that year. A couple of months later, the pacer then received his maiden ODI cap versus the USA.

A canny operator with the ball in hand, Ahmed, now helps the upcoming breed of fast bowlers. The UAE international also plays the part of player-mentor in the Delhi Bulls franchise during Abu Dhabi T10 league.
