Player Bio

Rising through the ranks of the Sri Lankan U-19 system, Lahiru Madushanka is a right-handed batsman, with an ability to bowl gentle medium pace.

He performed well for the Sri Lankan side in the U-19 World Cup in 2012. Between 2012-15, Madushanka jotted down impressive numbers and as a result was drafted in Sri Lanka A squad for the tour of New Zealand in 2015.

Two years down the lane, Madushanka was handed his debut international cap against the Proteas. Sri Lanka travelled for a full tour of South Africa and the allrounder was drafted in the playing XI in the third ODI of the series. Madushanka dismissed Faf du Plessis in the game but also bagged a nought in his debut innings.

Despite averaging more than 30 with the bat in the Sri Lankan domestic circuit, Madushanka failed to capitalise on the opportunities and couldn’t cement a permanent place in the limited-overs squad.

A lanky, bustling seamer and an explosive batter down the order, Madushanka’s international career graph has gone downwards ever since his debut in 2017. Still in the prime of his career, Madushanka will look to perform well in the domestic circuit, in order to regain his place in the Sri Lankan side.
