Player Bio

Sinalo Jafta is a left-handed wicket-keeper batter who plays for the South Africa women’s cricket team.

The aggressive batter made her international debut for South Africa in 2016 in the ODI series against New Zealand. She had a horrendous start to her international career by getting dismissed for a not in her maiden ODI match.

Three years later, Jafta was roped in by Devnarain XI to play in the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 Super League.

After some decent outings in the Super League, Jafta was drafted in by the selectors in the T20I series against Pakistan in 2019. Just like her ODI debut, she had a torrid time in the T20I’s against a strong Pakistani bowling line-up.

In March 2020, she was awarded a national contract by Cricket South Africa.

The East London-born was a surprise inclusion in the T20I series against India in March 2021. She had an average outing with the bat and struggled on tough Indian conditions.

Post the three-match T20I series, Jafta was made the skipper for the South African emerging squad for their ODI tour to Bangladesh.

Jafta is an aggressive batswoman who has struggled to cement her place in the national team ever since her debut in 2016. No one doubts her talent, but it’s the inconsistencies that have hampered her career so far.
