Meg Lanning (Australia Women Skipper): "This is one of the best wins I have been part of. We haven't played our best cricket in all facets but credit to the girls for fighting back. We didn't hit the right areas. The Indian Women were coming back hard but we managed to seize the crunch moments. We stayed in the game and that's what is required to get over the line. I think we are able to stay calm and composed. We knew a couple of wickets would turn the game in our favor. I won't be watching the second semi-final tomorrow but don't know about the other girls. I'll switch off and come back on Sunday for the final"
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Skipper): "Can't get unluckier than this. With Jemi, we gained impetus once more. We weren't expecting to lose from here. I can't imagine being more unlucky than the way I was run out. We were glad to make it to the final ball since putting in the effort was crucial. Up to the final ball, we wanted to fight. It was okay when they decided to bat today because we also wanted to chase. Even after losing the first two wickets, we were confident in our lineup for the bat. Jemimah deserves praise, she gave us the drive. I'm glad to witness some excellent performances."
Ashleigh Gardner (Player of the Match): "My heart rate was about 190 when I was bowling the last over. That is how our team fights. We discussed this in the post-game huddle. We weren't in a position to win, but we manage to overcome the odds, fight valiantly, and prevail. We had a good game with the bat, missed a few with the ball, but still played with spirit. (What did Lanning say?) was precise about the actions we wished to take. India's starting lineup includes effective batters. They have won their seventh consecutive semi-final and entered yet another T20 World Cup final. They were pushed all the way by India Women but the Southern Stars held their nerves to win the game by five runs. They keep themselves alive and have a very good chance of defending their title.
Chasing 173, the Indian side didn’t have the best of starts. Megan Schutt trapped Shafali Verma on nine in the second over. It was a short stay for Smriti Mandhana as she fell on two. A mix-up in the middle resulted in Yastika Bhatia’s departure. Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur started the recovery work and played some brilliant strokes as they were 59/3 at the end of the powerplay.
Both Jemimah and Kaur kept scoring at a brisk rate and kept the required run rate under control. The 69-run stand came to an end when Rodrigues edged one to the keeper. She fell on 43 off just 24 balls. There was no stopping Kaur as she continued playing her strokes and brought up her fifty. Just when the game was slipping away from Australia Women, Kaur was run out on 52, courtesy of her bat getting stuck outside the crease.
Kaur's dismissal was a big moment in the game. Richa Ghosh was dismissed on 14 and the required run rate crept up. The game went down to the wire and with 16 required from the last over, Ashleigh Gardner held her nerves as she defended it successfully. Gardner and Darcie Brown picked up two wickets each with the ball for Australia. Megan Schutt and Jess Jonassen also chipped in with a wicket each as they defended the total successfully.

Lanning joined Mooney who was looking in fantastic touch.

The Indian bowlers kept a check on the scoring rate in the middle phase but went on a journey in the death overs.
