Meg Lanning | Australia captain: "We are really happy, we knew it will be a challenge. Healy was really good upfront and Perry was incredible to put them under pressure. Taking early wickets always help and picking Devine and Bates early on helped. She has worked really hard to get this point and it is nice to see her doing well [on Ash Gardner]."
Sophie Devine (New Zealand Women Captain): "I think we played pretty poorly throughout the entire game. Australia batted exceptionally effectively, in my opinion. Lea Tahuhu was excellent with the ball, in my opinion. Amelia Kerr was exceptional. However, chasing down 170 was always going to be difficult, and the way we approached it, losing early wickets, was always going to be difficult. But the only way to put it is terribly disappointed. Finding the positives in this game is really vital because the reversal is so swift. So it was incredibly satisfying for us to be able to bowl them out and take wickets. I really believe that you must learn as much as you can from the wicket and the circumstances before continuing. It certainly played a little slower and lower than we had anticipated, but the game is always learning how to adjust."
Ashleigh Gardner (Player of the match): "That, in my opinion, was set up by our batters and afforded us some leeway and freedom with the ball. Just by chance, I arrived and took those wickets in the conclusion. To get up and over the ball and attempt to turn it, I've worked a lot on my wrist position. But the length is more important. Keeping the stumps in play also kept lbw in the conversation because some were bouncing today and some weren't. Because some bowlers were staying up and some were shooting low, the entire bowling unit needed to bowl at that knee roll length in order to keep the stumps in play."

New Zealand have been bowled out for 76 - their lowest total in a World Cup game. Chasing 174, they lost Suzie Bates early who tried an over-ambitious shot way too early and then when Devine fell later in the opening over, trouble was looming for the White Ferns.
Amelia Kerr tried to fight but the introduction of Ash Gardner ended her innings. The offie finished with 5/12 - her career-best figures as New Zealand slumped from 51/4 to 76 all-out.
The lower middle-order and lower order had no clue to the tricks of Gardner as they capitulated rather meekly.

Meg Lanning joined Alyssa Healy at number three, and the duo started scoring at a brisk pace on the looseners, but their progress was halted when Meg Lanning was cleaned bowled by Amelia Kerr’s unplayable googly and departed after scoring 41 runs. The pair forged a partnership of 70 runs for the second wicket.
Australia faced a mini-collapse at the cue end of the inning but managed to post 173 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

Carson on the back foot plays the wrong line and the ball thuds on the pad. A loud appeal and the umpire raises the finger straightaway. Gardner gets her fifer, and Australia thumped White Ferns by 97 runs!
