That's it from an exciting opening game between UAE and New Zealand from Dubai. Here's the trio of Ninaad Dixit, Deepak Prakash and scorer/analyst Raju Khariya taking your leave. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from all over the globe.
Tim Southee (Player of the match and New Zealand Captain): "Yeah, it was a good game of cricket. In the end, we came to expect that UAE are a growing side, and they show that tonight. Yeah, a lot of New Zealand, we've got marquees, which are some indoor training facilities. A number of guys have been playing different cricket around the world, so there's a number of different preparations, but we knew it was going to be hot, so you got to adapt to it, and we had a couple of days training leading into this, which guys made the most of, so it doesn't make it any easier, but when you travel the world, you get used to different conditions.

[speaking about the young UAE team] Yeah, it's very good. We know they're a quality side.
They're ever-improving. We see now the ILT 20 here and the youngsters coming in and playing with the freedom they did. It's exciting for cricket and exciting for them to have the opportunity to play these games.

Yeah, obviously there are a number of moving parts with people coming and going, but any cricket now, for the guys that are playing in that world event, it can only be a good thing. So when you're playing here in conditions, I guess, that is hot and services that are similar to what you're going to be faced with in India, it's only a good thing."

Muhammad Waseem (UAE Captain): "Its an honour for us playing against New Zealand. We got very close but lost due to inexperience.

We were telling the batters to play deep but we lost early 4-5 wickets in the middle eventually losing the game. I am happy with the performance and will take some positives from this game.

Aryansh gets 500 samosas after this performance from my side."

10:52 PM IST, 9:22 PM Local time: New Zealand win the first T20I against UAE by 19 runs and go 1-0 up in the three-match T20I series in Dubai.

Quick recap to the game: hosts UAE won the toss and elected to bowl first taking a wicket on the first ball and then on continuous intervals to restrict New Zealand for a below par total of 155/6 in 20 overs.

The chase didn't begin well for UAE as they too lost Muhammad Waseem on the first ball courtesy Tim Southee. Fellow opener Aryansh Sharma continued batting with intent stitching a 47-run partnership for the 3rd wicket with Asif Khan (13 off 10).

There was no other substantial innings or partnership besides that as the Kiwi bowlers continued picking wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Southee grabbed his second 5-wicket haul in T20Is finishing with 5/25. James Neesham (2/15), Mitchell Santner (2/22) and Kyle Jamieson (1/20) shared the remaining 5 wickets between them.

The second off 3 T20Is will be played on Saturday at the same venue.
19.4 K Jamieson to M Faraazuddin
W In the air and taken! UAE have been dismissed for 136! Length delivery on the off stump from Jamieson. Faraaz goes for a big swing across the line and hangs the ball high up in the air in the midwicket region, Tim Southee running in from mid on settles underneath and takes the catch. New Zealand win by 19 runs.
19.3 K Jamieson to M Faraazuddin
0 That's the final nail in the coffin. NZ secure a close win. Good length on the fourth stump line with some extra bounce. Big swing and a miss.
19.2 K Jamieson to Z Khan
1b Short of a length on the leg stump, big swing and a miss through to Cleaver, the batters steal a bye, 20 needed off 4 balls. 3 sixes can get UAE back in the hunt.
19.1 K Jamieson to M Faraazuddin
1 Over the wicket. Good length outside the off stump. Faraaz shuffles across looking to scoop this over the keeper. Plays it wide of Cleaver who dives to his left and fails to get a hand on the ball. Faraz slips at the non striker's end and asks his partner to go back in the crease as Zahoor was off for the second.
UAE need 22 runs in last over. Jamieson to bowl the final over.

W EDGED AND GONE! Skipper Southee brings the Blackcaps back in the hunt again! Pitches this short of a length and just outside the off stump angling it back to the right hander. Junaid goes for another hard swing and gets a soft tickle on its way to Dane Cleaver behind the wicket. UAE are 8 down with still 22 needed in 7 balls.
