01.48 AM IST: That's it!! Nottinghamshire have started their T20 Blast campaign with a victory. Today they have dominated in all three departments and have defeated Derbyshire by 4 wickets.

Earlier in the game, Derbyshire won the toss and elected to bat first. They got a flying start, the credit goes to Wayne Madsen and Luis Reece. The duo took charge after the early first wicket and started scoring at a brisk rate in the middle overs. They orchestrated a partnership of 112 runs in 60 balls.

Wayne Madsen and Luis Reece scored 61 and 53 runs respectively. However, after the stage of the halfway innings, excellent bowling from Nottinghamshire bowlers helped to restrict Derbyshire to 178/6 in 20 overs.

While chasing a total of 179 runs, Nottinghamshire started the chase with Joe Clarke and Alex Hales. They got off to a great start as they both posted 58 runs in 5 overs before Hales departed, who contributed only 12 runs. The duo put Nottinghamshire in cruise control of the chase. Joe Clarke continued assaulting Derbyshire bowlers and completed fifty in just 23 balls and walks back to the dugout at 68 runs off 29 balls including 9 fours and 4 sixes.

After that, Colin Munro and Matthew Montgomery, both handled the innings very well and glued a solid partnership of 60 runs in 35 balls for the third wicket before Munro went off. He departed at 23 off 15 balls. A fiery knock from Matthew Montgomery as he scored 51 runs off 29 balls. While Tom Moores scored 16 runs off 15 balls. Nottinghamshire crossed the victory line in 17 overs with 4 wickets in hand.

In the end, Derbyshire got 3 wickets an over, but they were unable to put any pressure on their opposition as they cruised to victory. George Scrimshaw was the pick of the bowler from the bowling end with his figures of 3/52 from his 4 overs, while Zak Chappell scalped 2 wickets.

4 Patel top edged it but safe!!! The ball was banged in short, in the middle from round the wicket, Patel swings his bat and managed to go over the keeper's head for a four as the ball beats the third man fielder in the chase. Nottinghamshire wins it easy here with this shot!

W That's the third wicket of the over but it's too late! Moores received this one on back of length, angling to middle, to which he played a uppish pull which landed straight into the hands of the deep fine leg fielder. What an over!
16.4 G Scrimshaw to L James
1 James plays a crisp on drive on a full ball, on off to take a single to make the scores equal.
