01:25 AM IST| That's it.... Surrey have started their T20 blast campaign with a victory. Today they have dominated in all three departments and have defeated Middlesex by 73 runs.

Earlier in the game, Surrey won the toss and elected to bat first. Will Jacks gave a flying start for Surrey but the credit goes to the Curran Brothers. The duo of Curran brothers took charge and started scoring at a brisk rate in the middle overs. They orchestrated a partnership of 118 runs in 73 balls.

Sam Curran and Tom Curran scored 68 and 50 runs respectively and made sure that their team gets to a total near 200. However, Tom Helm's excellent bowling helped Middlesex to restrict Surrey to 199. Helm scalped 3 wickets in the 20th over.

While chasing a mammoth total of 200 runs, Middlesex didn't get off to a good start as they lost their first wicket in the first over itself. Pieter Malan and Max Holden tried to steer the sinking ship for Middlesex but they failed to keep scoring at a brisk rate. Middlesex kept on losing the wickets at regular intervals and were going away from the target.

Will Jacks bowled a magnificent 10th over and broked the backbone of Middlesex. He scalped two wickets in that over and made the task tough for the batters. Sunil Narine in the very next over rattled the timber of Max Holden who was looking good in the middle. Max departed after scoring 43 off 23 balls. It was just a domino effect of wickets and Middlesex never looked like they will be back in the game. Max Holden was the top scorer for Middlesex.

Will Jacks and G Atkinson were the picks of the bowlers for Surrey as they scalped three wickets each.  Sunil Narine chipped in with a couple of wickets.
14.5 G Atkinson to B Cullen
W GONE. Game. Set and Match. A comprehensive victory for Surrey as they beat Middlesex by 73 runs at the home of cricket. Atkinson picks the final wicket. Bowls it on a length on the stumps, Cullen looks to smash it over long on but doesn't get the required elevation as Overton stationed in the deep takes a simple catch.
14.4 G Atkinson to B Cullen
4 FOUR!!!! Cullen is away with a boundary. Atkinson bowls it shorter outside off, Cullen hangs back and slaps it over covers for a boundary. Nice way to get off the mark. This won't please Atkinson.
14.3 G Atkinson to J Simpson
W Simpson holes out in the deep. Atkinson bowls it on a length on leg, Simpson charges down the track and looks to heave it over wide long on fence but doesn't get it off the middle of the bat. Jacks out on the boundary runs to his left and takes a fine catch with a reverse cup. Simpson departs on 15 as Surrey are one wicket away from wrapping up this contest.
14.2 G Atkinson to J Simpson
0 On a length on the stumps and Simpson defends it straight back to the bowler.
14.2 G Atkinson to J Simpson
WD Atkinson bangs it short but down leg and has to reload that one.
14.1 G Atkinson to T Helm
1 Back of a length delivery on the stumps and Helm pulls it towards long on for a single.

13.4 W Jacks to N Fernandes
W Knocks him over. Another one bites the dust. Jacks from round the wicket fires this one on the stumps, Fernandes fails to get his bat down in time against this yorker-length delivery and sees the ball hit the base of the middle stump. He is disappointed with himself as he takes the long walk back to the pavilion.
13.3 W Jacks to N Fernandes
0 Drifting in on leg, Fernandes looks to sweep it but misses and wears it high on the pads. A half-hearted appeal from jacks but turned down by the umpire.
13.2 W Jacks to J Simpson
1 Quicker delivery on the stumps and Simpson slog sweeps it towards deep mid wicket for a run.
