AkshayaKrishna Polya here signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Ayan Chatterjee and Ninaad Dixit, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav brought you all the live-action of this run-fest from Kolkata. We will meet again in the next match. Until then, it's cheers!
Ajinkya Rahane (Player of the Match): "Just clear mindset and nothing else. If your mind is right, then you can do anything. The process is good and I am enjoying myself. The track was sticky initially and then it got better. We had a good start and then I came and went about their business. I am enjoying my knocks and enjoying each and every one of it.

I am enjoying playing under Mahi bhai. He teaches us a lot and you listen to it and get better. It's a learning curve for all of us and it's a pleasure playing under him."
MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings Captain): "I would just say thank for the support. You know, they came in big numbers. Usually, they would come dressed in KKR jersey colour. Maybe to give me a farewell they have come in numbers wearing yellow jerseys. It's good to see such support. They will come wearing their team jerseys in the upcoming games. However, thanks crowd for the support.

Our fast bowlers are doing the job and so are the spinners. We knew that one side of the ground is slightly longer than the other side. Hence we bowled to that longer side and made them hit to that side. They have plenty of power hitters and hence you need to respect the opposition.

We have a simple funda, if a player is injured then he can't do anything. You have to keep motivating the youngsters as they play each game. We have been fortunate to see all the players perform.

(On Rahane) We know the player's potential. We know his strengths and will allow him to bat the way he wants. Giving the freedom to play the way one wants and giving him the best possible slot to bat is an important thing. In a team game, one has to sacrifice a slot to allow others to get the best possible position to bat."
Active Catch of the Match: Ravindra Jadeja.
Longest six of the match: Jason Roy (91m).
Most Fours of the match: Ajinkya Rahane.
Most Valuable Asset Player of the Match: Ajinkya Rahane.
Game Changer of the Match: Ajinkya Rahane.
Electric Striker of the Match: Ajinkya Rahane.
11:40 PM IST: Time for the presentations.
Devon Conway (Chennai Super Kings): "Probably it was the partnership up there with Rutu. We were just trying to keep it simple. Lot of credit goes to Rutu. I have always had issues with the balls on bodyline but seems to be getting that away in the past few games.

I'm just trying to be positive. My role at the top is to try and put bowlers under pressure. By using my feet sort of get into positions and get momentum through the innings so one of the things I'm working on. The culture we have here at Chennai is special. Everyone knows their roles. Everyone feels backed. The good vibe in the group winning a few games on the bounce so continuing this momentum and just moving forward in the tournament as much as possible.

Having MS in your group, its great to have him. It feels like a home fixture every time he plays. It is great that CSK fans get behind him and us as a group."
Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain): "It is hard to digest. To chase 336 (226) is difficult on this wicket after you had a poor powerplay. Credit goes to Ajju bhaiyya (Rahane). He executed what he wanted to do. It is hard to digest that we conceded 236 runs because how good the wicket is you just can't concede 236.

We have had a lot of positives in all the matches. But wherever we are weak we are not improving there and if you don't improve then you will end up at the losing side. Whenever a wicket falls you tend to build a partnership and then around 10 balls are used in trying to build one. The powerplay was very important."
KKR won the toss earlier in the match and opted to bowl first. CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway gave the team a flying start, adding 73 runs for the first wicket. A wrong’un bowled by Suyash Sharma undid Gaikwad (35 off 20), and the right-hander lost his stumps after getting into another good start.

Conway (56 off 40) continued his good run in the season and amassed his fourth consecutive fifty to push the scorecard over 100. The southpaw had a 36-run partnership for the second wicket alongside Ajinkya Rahane before getting holed out to long-off in the 13th over.

With a nice platform set for an onslaught, Shivam Dube and Rahane unleashed their audacious stroke play, smashing KKR bowlers left, right and centre. The duo were in charge and hammered 85 runs for the third wicket, and in the process, both batters completed their respective half-centuries.

Kulwant Khejroliya broke this partnership with the wicket of dangerous Dube (50 off 21). Still, then Ravindra Jadeja and Rahane clubbed 38 runs for the fourth wicket in no time as the scoreboard kept moving exponentially. Khejroliya was tonked for plenty in the final over but came back well to pick the wicket of Jadeja (18 off 8) before stopping a MS Dhoni finish. Still, CSK were absolutely superb, finishing on 235/4 in their allotted 20 overs with Rahane remaining unbeaten on 71 off 29 balls, including 6 fours and 5 maximums.

For the Kolkata-based franchise, Suyash Sharma was magnificent amidst the run-fest and gave away only 29 runs with a wicket to go with it. The rest of all the bowlers were taken to the cleaners, with Khejroliya picking two and Varun Chakravarthy scalping a wicket.
11:26 PM IST | An all-round display from the Super Kings get them two points as they beat the home side by 49 runs and move to the top of the points table!

Chasing a mammoth total, KKR were off to a horror start, losing both of their openers (Sunil Narine and Narayan Jagadeesan) well inside two overs. While Narine was knocked out for a bronze duck by a beauty from the CSK impact player Akash Singh, Jagadeesan holed out to Jadeja in the bowling of ever-improving Tushar Deshpande.

KKR’s impact player Venkatesh Iyer looked to rebuild the sinking innings and added 45 runs for the third wicket alongside skipper Nitish Rana. Moeen Ali was introduced into the attack and trapped Iyer (20 off 20) infront of the stumps in the 8th over. Jason Roy came at number 5 and tonked Ali for a hattrick of sixes in the same over. Ravindra Jadeja removed the set batter from the other end in the next over as Rana (27 off 20) holed out to deep mid-wicket.

Roy (61 off 26) continued his onslaught and smashed a brilliant fifty off just 19 balls but couldn't continue his wonderful ball striking as he was castled by Maheesh Theekshana, who broke the 65-run fifth wicket stand between the Englishman and Rinku Singh in the 15th over. Andre Russell failed yet again and that was it for the home side. Wickets fell continuously at one end with Rinku Singh trying to minimize the losing margin and ended up being unbeaten on 53 off 33 balls as KKR were restricted to 186/8.

CSK bowlers were superb and kept the KKR batting line up on a check. Akash Singh bowled four overs on the trot and picked a wicket to show for his efforts. While Deshpande and Theekshana scalped a couple of wickets each, Moeen, Jadeja and Pathirana, who was outstanding once again at the death, finished with a wicket each.

Stay around for the post-match presentations...

0 Short and this time outside off. Rinku swings and misses the pull as he gets beaten for pace! That is a comprehensive performance from CSK to win a fairly one-sided contest.
19.5 M Pathirana to R Singh
0 Short and on the left shoulder of the batter. Rinku is late on the pull and it falls in no man's land down at fine leg. No run again.
KKR has reviewed this call for the waist high no ball. The ball seems to be dipping and it is a fair delivery.

19.4 M Pathirana to R Singh
0 High full toss angling across outside off. Rinku swings hard for a swipe across the line but gets an outside edge on the bounce towards the keeper. KKR ask for a review for a waist height no ball. Replays come in and the ball tracker also comes in. The third umpire says that the ball is dipping and Rinku has a bent knee while facing it. Not a no ball and it's a fair delivery. Review lost for KKR.
