That is the end of an amazing double-header Saturday. While RR won the afternoon encounter beating DC by a comfortable margin, CSK walked past MI in what was an one-sided affair under lights here at Wankhede.

For now, it is me AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Arijit Kundu and Ninaad Dixit, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav brought you all the live-action of this mouth-watering fixture. Join us again tomorrow for a super Sunday double-header! Until then, it’s cheers!
Ravindra Jadeja: "I think when we were bowling it wasn't really spinning. Yeah, odd balls were spinning but it was going straight for the most part of it. I and Mitchell Santner were looking to bowl on right lines and lengths with the batters they had. Here and there we could have gone for runs but it's okay. It's a bit of mixed wickets here. Sometimes it's good for batting, sometimes it is pacey or sticky. We keep discussing with each other and bowl accordingly. It's important to speak to one another and support each other."
Player of the Match: Ravindra Jadeja
MS Dhoni (CSK Captain): "It feels good and also not to forget we lost Deepak in the first over. It was a big challenge. He has been our new ball bowler. Magala was playing his first game. It was bit of an issue how to shuffle the bowlers and who to bowl when. Good thing is that the spinners bowled very well. Initial 6-7 overs, it wasn't turning a lot. They were able to play the big shot. I feel it was a two-paced after that. So spinners were able to use that in their favor. Fast bowlers came back nicely. Magala and Pretorius came back nicely. Overall its a very good effort after losing one of your premium bowler. To come back an d restrict them close to 160 is a very good effort.

We believe in him (Tushar Deshpande). What happens is when you are new, you have a different sort of pressure and when you play IPL for a few games and it feels like a comeback. I feel as cricketers its one of the worst feelings to have. He had a very good domestic season and that helps. We are constantly talking to him about what needs to be done. He is very good with execution. but in the last couple of games he had bowled no balls and that's not a very good feeling to have at the back of your bowling mark. That's something that you don't want to have in your mind. I feel he's improving. The delivery that Rohit got out to was a fantastic delivery so he has that potential, he can be much more consistent. So we're just hoping that he takes that added responsibility.

Me and Jinx spoke at the beginning when we started practicing for CSK. He was simple asking 'what you are looking from me?' Whatever I had in me I told him you need to play at your strength. You won't be somebody who will be consistently hitting sixes but you have the ability to manipulate the field, use the pace of the bowler and he is technically very sound. I said go and enjoy because that's what is needed. Don't take too much stress. Yes we are not able to give you the first game but when the chance comes, we'll back you and I was very happy the way he batted. I think he was a bit disappointed the way he got out which is always a good signal when a player says I could have done slightly more.

I feel all the games are important. The more you can manage. The first target is to win enough games to make into the qualifiers and then depending on where you are standing on the league's table. But that's far too ahead. Important is to look at the problems in front of you and take it one game at a time, try to do well, try to win games and gather points."

Ajinkya Rahane (Chennai Super Kings): "Ravi Bhai, how are you? Really enjoyed. I got to know before the toss. Moeen was unwell and Flem (Stephen Fleming) told me that I was playing. I had a good domestic season. That's my strength, I wanted to back my strength, hold my shape, play my strokes, and not smash the balls hard.

Before every game you have to think that you are in the game, you have to be ready. IPL is a long tournament and you don't know when you are going to get a game. I always enjoyed playing at the Wankhede. Never played a Test match here yet and would like to play. I know the ground well.

I think it is the important thing about Mahi bhai and Flem (Stephen Fleming) is to they give you the freedom. They told me to play my game, focus on your process and focus on your game. Luckily I was ready. I visualize myself and be prepared for my game. Thank You Ravi Bhai."

Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians Captain): "We lost our way in the middle. Didn't capitalize on the start that we got. It was a good pitch and we were 30-40 runs short the way we got the start but couldn't capitalize in the middle overs. Gotta give credit to their spinners as well, they bowled pretty well kept us under pressure and we were not able to respond.

You need to try out different things, need to attack. You need to brave at the time. We've got a couple of guys who are young into the IPL playing for the first time so gotta give some time to them. They've got real talent as well. But it will take some time. All we gotta do from our side is back them and show enough trust in their ability which we are trying to do from our side.

The senior guys need to step up starting with me. We know the nature of IPL. When it starts you gotta get some momentum towards and if you don't its always tough and we are trying to find the momentum. Its 2 games still. Not all lost here but you are right. Some of the senior guys from our team need to step up with the bat.

That's the nature of this tournament, you can win a few on the trot. If you lose, it gets hard to get that momentum. We want to come out of that losing streak, I wouldn't call it a streak, its just 2 games. You need to do a lot of things right which we are trying to figure in our changing room. We are not able to execute in the middle. We need to come out and take that opportunity and be brave enough to do it in the middle.

We know we had a disappointing last season but you always start afresh. Even when we won the 5 trophies, we never thought of that we won last year. Its always starting fresh. Every opposition is quality. You have to be good on that particular day to win the games and beat the opposition. Its crucial for us, what has happened has happened the last year. We can't change too much about it but we can learn from what happened in these 2 games. Bring it out and be more brave to bring it out on the field."
MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to put Mumbai Indians into bat. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave the team a head start, adding 38 runs in no time. Tushar Deshpande struck with a beauty as he nipped away to castle the stumps of the MI skipper (21 off 13) in the 4th over. Kishan (32 off 21) continued to be aggressive and stitched a quickfire 26 runs for the second wicket alongside Cameron Green (12 off 11), with MI scoring 61/1 in the powerplay.

But it was where the game turned on its head as MSD introduced the spinners. Ravindra Jadeja bowled a terrific spell, dismantling MI's top and middle order. Jadeja was given good support by Mitchell Santner, who, in tandem, kept Mumbai quiet in the entire middle phase. Jaddu finished with the figures of 4-0-20-3, while the Kiwi left-arm spinner finished with 4-0-28-2. Amidst this, Tilak Varma contributed with a handy 22 but couldn’t take the innings deeper.

It was Tim David whose counter-attack took MI to a competitive total. Deshpande put a break on David’s (31 off 22) whirlwind innings after getting hit for a few runs in the 17th over. Hrithik Shokeen (18* off 13) scored some runs in the end, to propel Mumbai Indians to 157/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

CSK lost the services of Deepak Chahar, who walked off after the first over due to a pulled hamstring. Dwaine Pretorius, despite going wicketless, bowled beautifully and was economical throughout his spell. Sisanda Magala was expensive but got his maiden IPL wicket in the process.
Chasing 158 to win, CSK lost Devon Conway for a duck in the first over, bowled by Jason Behrendorff. The number three batter Ajinkya Rahane came out of his blocks and creamed every stroke he played. The Mumbaikar showed his class and played an eye-pleasing knock. Each and every shot in the knock of 61 off 27 balls was a treat to watch and hit 7 fours and 3 sixes in his first fifty on CSK debut and is also the fastest half-century of the ongoing edition.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was a mere spectator at the other end and added a match-setting partnership of 82 runs for the second wicket alongside Rahane. Piyush Chawla broke this stand by dismissing Rahane in the 8th over. Afterwards, Gaikwad and Shivam Dube knitted 43 runs for the third wicket, which steered the Yellow Army towards the target. Dube (28 off 26) chopped one onto the stumps in the bowling of Kumar Kartikeya, the impact player of MI, in the 15th over.

Then the impact player of CSK Ambati Rayudu (20* off 16) and the sensible batting display of Gaikwad (40* off 36) sealed the deal for CSK as they finished off the game with 11 deliveries left!
10:51 PM IST | Ambati Rayudu finishes it off in style as CSK beat MI by 7 wickets to grab two points in what is called an ‘ElClásico’ encounter in IPL. It was one-way traffic all the way since the MI's batting powerplay!
18.1 A Khan to A Rayudu
4 FOURRRR!! Full and outside the off from the bowler and it sails well over the inner circle and just short of the scurring fielder from the sweeper region. Rayudu walked a tad down and throws the kitchen sink at it. The ball scoots over and beats the fielder to find the boundary boards. Rayudu finishes off things and it is CSK who emerges victorious at the box office clash.
18.1 A Khan to R Gaikwad
1wd Arshad Khan to bowl the over. Full and angling wide outside the off. The batter looks to reach out but leaves it. The keeper dives to his right and fails to gather it neatly. They scamper a single as extra.
