So, this is a wrap from our side. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal, signing off alongside my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer from the 24th match of Pakistan Super League 2023 between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans. Hope you have enjoyed our live coverage. Stay tuned with us for more live cricketing actions around the globe.
Good night.
Shadab Khan (captain, Islamabad United):  "We thought Faheem could win games because of the type of player he is. Fazalhaq Farooqi should also be included because he bowled exceptionally well. Our bowling has consistently struggled, despite the fact that our batting is our strength. Although we bowl well, we still need to perform much better. Throughout the competition, we switched up our batting order to help all of the guys regain their form. In order for players to restore their form before the play-offs, it is crucial to bat for a specific amount of time in the middle."
Mohammad Rizwan(Multan Sultan captain):- "Pitch is better and we lacked the finishing touch to win the match. Obviously with the bowlers we had, they did really well. A score of 220 would have been on the cards considering the way we were playing. But then, lacked the finishing touch. We have recovered from the wrong doings we did in the last two games but the finishing touch were the only things we lacked this time."
Faheem Ashraf (Player of the match): "I wish to express my gratitude to God for guiding me. The idea was to go for it hard and keep pursuing it until you succeeded. You must support yourself and adhere to the necessary rate at all times, and Wasim was really helpful."
It's time for the presentation.
Azhar Mahmood (Islamabad United coach): "Faheem Ashraf was outstanding beyond belief. He displayed his character and class. He is one of Pakistan's top all-around athletes! The fact that he remained till the final ball proves his confidence. Unreal! Shadab is returning to form, so this is a positive start for us. The fact that everyone is pitching in is encouraging. It is beneficial to have competition inside the team. I'm also proud of those guys for their last four at-bats against one of the finest hitters in the world. Multan had several victories both the previous season and this one."
Saptak:- Every material was present in the batting order of Islamabad United to chase down 206 on a batting friendly pitch but things went against them somehow.
Lots of beliefs were on Alex Hales and Rahmanullah Gurbaz who both are hard hitters. But the Multan bowlers restricted Hales very well and eventually took his wicket in his seventh ball. Gurbaz had no other way than hitting the balls hard to increase the run rate but after a few boundaries, Gurbaz slogged a top edge to terminate his innings at 25. But after that Colin Munro hit 20 from the last over of powerplay to make it 54-2 at the end of the first 6 overs. When Munro was with Shadab Khan, Islamabad was going well and their partnership brought 59 runs in just 30 balls. But after Munro's dismissal, things suddenly turned over with the explosive batter Azam Khan(3) falling cheaply.
Shadab Khan played a captain's knock to keep the game alive. He smashed the spinners with his partner Faheem Ashraf but not after he edged one yorker of Ihsanullah back on to the stumps. Asif Ali was the batter next and his stay lasted for 5 balls rewarding just 8 runs. Then things started going tough for Ashraf and his new partner Mubasir Khan. Mubasir Khan had no other option left than hitting, departed after giving a simple catch to David Miller at long on and the equation was down to 46 off 18. Mohammed Abbas gave 16 runs away in the 18th over to make the equation cut short to 30 from 12! The penultimate over was well executed by Anwar Ali and he plumed one in front of Wasim. It was 18 from the last then.
Faheem Ashraf kept his nerves cool and send all the good overpitched balls by Ilyas to the boundary and a fumble by Miller added more run to Faheem's total. He made an exceptional half century to take his team home!!
Coming to bat earlier, Multan Sultan boarded 205 with the help of a 75 run innings from Shan Masood and a quick 60 run cameo by Tim David. Mohammed Rizwan also contributed a 18 ball 33 to consolidate the start. But no force today was enough to stop Faheem Ashraf and his brilliance!
Just over the mid off to bring the half century, the win in style!
19.5 M Ilyas to F Ashraf
4 FOUR!! That's it, Ashraf turned the tide of the game, take a bow!! Full toss delivery on the off. Ashraf lofts it straight over the Pollard at mid-off for a boundary to seal the game. This is the highest successful chase in the history of PSL. Unbelievable scenes here at Pindi, the hosts have done it twice in a couple of days.
Scores are level and it's Pollard, "THE" Kieron Pollard who made the misfield! I think, I saw everything on Earth today.
19.4 M Ilyas to F Ashraf
4 FOUR!! Goodness me, could you believe it Pollard fails to stop it!!! Fuller delivery on the middle stump line. Ashraf drills it straight along the carpet and the ball races towards the boundary rope, Pollard slides across to stop it but is a bit late as the ball touched the boundary rope.
You just can't fumble in these type of situations!
19.3 M Ilyas to F Ashraf
2 Fuller delivery on the stumps. Ashraf swings hard and the ball travels to mid-wicket who fumble and the pair hustles for a couple of runs.
Wow!! Next level brilliance from Faheem, high class shot from a highly skilled batter.
19.2 M Ilyas to F Ashraf
6 SIX!! Low full-toss delivery outside the off. Ashraf goes for a scoop and lofts it over the short third man who is inside the circle and the ball sails all the way for a maximum. The game is on!
19.1 M Ilyas to F Ashraf
4 Fourr! The game is even more interesting as Ashraf got an inside edge trying to scoop the overpitched ball, outside off and it went beating the wicket keeper for a four. 13 from 5 now.
19.1 M Ilyas to F Ashraf
WD Overpitched, way outside off and called a wide. Has to deliver again.
