That's a wrap on this game. The teams will move to Mirpur for the next two T20IS between Bangladesh and England. Do join us for the next game on the 12th and stay tuned for more cricketing action across the globe in our network. For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Megh Mandaliya alongside scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Good night and CHEERS!
Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh Captain): "The way we approached the game was fantastic. Can't ask anymore. We were under the pump in the first 10 overs but all the bowlers trusted their plans and leaving aside the dropped catches, it was a good effort from everyone. In T20Is, when you don't think too much, you tend to do well That is what will try and carry out in the dressing room. Hopefully, we will continue this environment in the dressing room. A very good start in preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies."
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Player of the Match): "Yes, Towhid batted really well. I played some cricketing shots and backed myself to get the job done. Obviously. The bowlers bowled well especially Hasan and Taskin and we had to bat normally and glad we did that. Rony started well alongside Litton and then that allowed me to do well and play this match winning knock."
Jos Buttler (England Captain): "Yeah, I thought Bangladesh finished the innings really well. We were in a position to kick on and launch at the end but could not manage to do that. I think we were around 20 runs short. Much was expected from the pitch, such as the low bounce and the slowness but it played pretty well. It was consistent throughout the game but as I mentioned, we were short on runs today. Bangladesh came out with a lot of intent and took the game away by putting us under a lot of pressure. I am blessed to have so many options."
Time for the presentation ceremony...
5:43 PM IST: Shakib Al Hasan hits the winning runs as Bangladesh wins this game handsomely by 6 wickets with 2 overs to spare to go 1-0 up in this 3-match T20I series. They came back well with the ball in the back half of the England innings and have aced the chase beautifully here. They deserve this win without a shadow of a doubt.

Chasing a tricky 157 for the win, Bangladesh came out all guns blazing courtesy of Rony Talukdar who aced the powerplay as he scored 21 off 14 balls. Litton Das fell for 12. But it was the Najmul Hossain Shanto show as his 51 off 30 balls took England ahead of the required rate. He was ably supported by the debutant Towhid Hridoy who scored 24 off 17 balls. But it was the skipper Shakib Al Hasan who finished things off nicely with an unbeaten 34* off 24 balls. He was ably supported by Afif Hossain who stayed there till the end with his 15* off 13 balls. They got to the target in 18 overs.

The England bowling was not at his best as they failed to live upto the expectations. A wicket apiece for Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Adil Rashid, and Moeen Ali. Most of the bowlers were taken to the cleaners by the Bangladesh batters.

Earlier in the game, England came out all guns blazing after being told to bat first. Skipper Jos Buttler was the star as he top scored with 67 off 42 balls. Phil Salt looked good at the top of the order with 38 off 35 balls. Ben Duckett looked good for his 20 before falling. It was Duckett's wicket followed by Buttler that led England to lose their way and post only 156/6 after looking good for 180 at one stage. That was the difference in the end one felt.

Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/26 in 4 overs as he bowled the tough overs. He was ably supported by skipper Shakib Al Hasan who picked up a wicket for 26 runs in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for the other bowlers Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, and Mustafizur Rahman. They all played a part in keeping England down to 156/6 in 20 overs.

So, a win for Bangladesh by 6 wickets with 12 balls to spare to go 1-0 up in the 3-match T20I series. Stick around for the presentation ceremony that comes your way soon.

4 FOUR! A sloppy effort in the field and the skipper finishes things off in style. This is the first time Bangladesh has defeated England in a T20 International and the home crowd is elated at the moment. Back of a length delivery and outside off, Shakib throws his bat at that one but the southpaw gets a thickish outside edge that cruises towards deep third man region, where the fielder dives across but was unable to stop the boundary. Bangladesh has thwarted the world champions by 6 wickets and it was a convincing performance from the hosts.
17.5 C Jordan to A Hossain
1 Good length delivery and angled into the pads, Hossain works that to deep square leg for a single. Only 3 required now.
17.4 C Jordan to Hasan
1 Back of a length delivery and outside off, Shakib slashes that to deep backward point region for a single.
17.3 C Jordan to Hasan
0 Yorker length delivery and wide of off-stump, Shakib hunches low and tries to squeeze it away but gets no connection as the ball passes to the keeper, no run.
17.2 C Jordan to Hasan
4 FOUR! Shakib is in a hurry here and the hosts now only require 5. Fuller and outside off with the pace being taken off again, Shakib picks the slower one early and lifts that over mid-off for a boundary. A couple of bounces and into the ropes.
17.1 C Jordan to A Hossain
1 Fuller length delivery in the middle with the pace being taken off, Hossain waits for it and tucks that down to mid-on for a single.
10 runs are now needed off 18 balls. Only a miracle can help England avoid a defeat here.

16.6 J Archer to A Hossain
1 Back of a length delivery just outside the off-stump, Hossain bends low and opens his face to guide the ball towards third man region for a single to end the over.
16.5 J Archer to A Hossain
4 FOUR! That is pure elegance from Hossain and he punishes the poor delivery. Half-volley in the middle and off, Hossain leans into the drive and he propels that firmly past the extra covers as the ball races away towards the ropes. That was timed superbly by the southpaw.
16.4 J Archer to Hasan
1 Back of a length again on the top of middle, Shakib swivels and angles that to deep mid-wicket for a single.
16.3 J Archer to A Hossain
1 Back of a length and on the top of middle, Hossain turns that to deep mid-wicket for a single.
