The boys came up well going into the playoffs. The biggest takeaway is the momentum going into the playoffs. We lost a couple of games and that was at the right time. I think having Maheesh covers us with Nortje out now. We were changing the team and trying out a few things. The winning momentum is with us and hopes to do well in the playoffs now."

Earlier in the match, Northern Warriors won the toss and opted to bat first. But the decision backfired for the Rovman Powell-led side as they lost their top four in no time. At one stage, the Warriors were at 22/4 after 2.5 overs. Then Sherfane Rutherford and Adam Hose rebuilt the sinking ship with a partnership of 56 runs for the fifth wicket. While Rutherford (30 off 15) was out in the 8th over, Hose went on to play a blistering innings of 25-ball 54 and was the last one to fall in the last over as Northern Warriors posted 117/7 in their allotted 10 overs.
For Morrisville Samp Army, Karim Janat and Dwaine Pretorius scalped a couple of wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana and Sheldon Cottrell picked a wicket each.
Chasing a total of 118, the Samp Army lost Johnson Charles in the first ball of their innings. It was Karim Janat (25 off 12) shining again, but this time with the bat in hand, as he stitched a partnership of 71 runs for the second wicket alongside Shimron Hetmyer (45 off 18). Janat was the second man to go in the 5th over and this triggered a small collapse as they lost Hetmyer, David Miller, and Moeen Ali in a blink of an eye. In the end, it was Dwaine Pretorius (17* off 7) and Chamika Karunaratne (22* off 8) who did the honours as they finished the match in the Samp Army’s favour by 5 wickets with 9 balls remaining.
