Wanindu Hasaranga (Kandy Falcons Captain): "It's my first game as a captain and really happy to get a win. Credit to the batters and also the bowlers. That was my second T20 hattrick and I'm really happy. That's what leg-spinners can do and they can change the game in a moment. For the first two wickets, I tried to bowl on the stumps and bowl dot balls. But backed my googly on the hattrick ball. I have more responsibility as a captain and I always try to do my best."
Angelo Mathews (Colombo Stars Captain): "The conditions were fine, we were just horrible in the field. Probably one of the worst performance that the team can have on the field. Its good that it happened in the first game. Its an eye opener for all of us.
In the magnitude of this kind of tournament, it gives you exposure and opportunities especially to the young budding cricketers and there are no excuses at all. We had a game yesterday but unfortunately it rained. We are professionals, we have to give our best on the field and it wasn't the case today we couldn't do our best today.

Andre Fletcher (Player of the Match): "I just have to celebrate it. We spoke about starting the tournament with a win in the team meeting and we did exactly that. Nissanka played well and helped us post a good total. At the start, it was a bit difficult. Happy that I got a few chances and tried to capitalize on them. We have to make sure that we carry forward this momentum. Looking at the first game, we thought 130 was a good total. But we had batters in the dugout and looked to score big. The body will be tired at times but I have to fight and step up."

The Kandy Falcons register their first ever win against Colombo Stars in five attempts and what a way to get the victory after losing the toss and batting first at Hambantota. The openers gave the Falcons a solid start banking on the dropped chances, four of which were provided to Andre Fletcher, the 'SPICEMAN' from the Caribbean who brought up his 3rd T20 career century helping the Falcons to 199/1 in 20 overs.
Wanindu Hasaranga, the magical skipper then picked up a hattrick and was backed up well by his bowlers to pack the Colombo Stars inside 15 overs to seal the deal. Chasing 200, the Colombo Stars didn't get the best of the starts as they lost opener Niroshan Dickwella in the first over itself as he fell short of the crease running a sharp single with Wanindu Hasaranga hitting the bull's eye from mid on.
Charith Asalanka soon followed suit in the second over nicking one to the keeper. The Stars managed to score 38 runs losing 3 wickets in the powerplay. Then came the magic moment when the skipper of Kandy Falcons decided to have a bowl.
Wanindu Hasaranga in his very first over sent back Dinesh Chandimal on the very first ball he bowled to his Sri Lanka teammate with a googly and then followed that with another two googlies to Benny Howell and Seekkuge Prasanna putting the Stars down at 39/6.
Support from other bowlers with Zahoor Khan (1/8 in 2 overs) and Carlos Brathwaite (1/22) at the top and from Ashan Daniel, Isuru Udana and Carlos Brathwaite with some tidy bowling in the middle overs. Fabian Allen brought on to bowl the 15th over picked up 2 wickets on consecutive deliveries to fold the game finishing with 2/1 in 3 balls. Overall, 31 wickets fell in the day including 20 in the first game played earlier.

Lakmal is trapped in his crease as he goes on the backfoot and gets hit high on the pads. Appeal for leg before and a positive response from the umpire. Umpire's call on wickets and its all over!
