Milestone
That concludes the presentation and that also wraps up our coverage of the 1st T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand. The hosts have started the series with a convincing victory over the Blackcaps. Join us tomorrow for the second T20I between these two sides and stick to our network for other fixtures around the globe. For now, this is Megh Mandaliya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash and our scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. Cheers!
Babar Azam (Pakistan Captain): "Yeah, I am really happy with my 100th T20 international game and I wasn't expecting this. I still remember those days when I used to be a ball picker at this ground and today I am playing the 100th T20 game.

Despite losing early wickets, Fakhar and Ayub helped to extend the innings. Saim has been getting better every day; good luck to him. On this wicket, I believe our hitters set up a solid total. Rauf bowled well, and so did the other bowlers, and we had a strong bowling lineup. When you have lots of possibilities, that's good. As the bowler adhered to their strategy, it took a team effort."
Tom Latham (New Zealand Captain): "Yeah, the preparation wasn't ideal. But we can't use that as an excuse. We're a professional cricket team. We have to adapt to different conditions. The score was just above par and the asking run rate kept on increasing. Yeah, Matt Henry was fantastic. A special milestone for him. Hopefully, we can adapt quickly tomorrow."
Haris Rauf (Player of the Match): "Yeah, I needed this performance, playing for Pakistan after a long gap. I was merely attempting stump-to-stump bowling. It will be simple for you if you get off to a strong start and gain confidence. I enjoyed getting all the wickets. The situation is fine. Sometimes during your run-up, you can lose control and fall, but that's not a huge issue."

12:51 AM IST | Pakistan have started the five-match T20I series on an assertive note at the Gaddafi Stadium. The Babar Azam-led side has defeated New Zealand by 88 runs in the series opener. Pakistan were exceptional with the bowl in the second innings and the Kiwis have been bundled out for 94.

Earlier in the day, after electing to bat first, the accustomed pair of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan was troubled by some early movement by Matt Henry and Adam Milne. The right-handed Rizwan survived a few outside edges early on before Milne trapped him in front with an exceptional in-swinger. He drew first blood for New Zealand as Rizwan had to walk back for 8(10).

Fakhar Zaman walked in at number three but he too was beaten by the sideways movement generated by the Kiwi pacers. However, the southpaw did not take long enough to get into his natural element and collect back-to-back boundaries in the fourth over. The New Zealand bowlers were also quick to respond as Adam Milne cleaned up the Pakistan skipper Babar 9(7) with a fiery delivery.

Following Babar’s departure, Saim Ayub got together with Zaman and the duo started the acceleration process. Both the batters carved the gaps perfectly initially before going all guns blazing near the halfway stage of the innings. The 79-run partnership between the left-handed duo was halted by a run-out as Ayub had to walk back for 47(28).

Pakistan went on a bit of a  rollercoaster ride after Ayub’s wicket. The men in green kept losing wickets at regular intervals but they also assured the run rate kept growing. Faheem Ashraf chipped in with a crucial 22(16) and Haris Rauf also added 11(5) to take Pakistan past 180. Matt Henry bagged his maiden T20I hat-trick and finished his stint on 3/32.

In pursuit of a competitive total of 183, New Zealand were off to a shaky start inside the powerplay. The Kiwi top order was outclassed by the movement generated off the deck and the visitors lost three wickets inside the powerplay by adding only 30 runs to the total. Chad Bowes 1(5) was the first one to return back as the right-hander was outwitted by Zaman Khan. That was soon followed by the wicket of Will Young 2(7) as Shaheen Shah got the better of him.

Daryl Mitchell 11(5) showed some signs of aggression but he too departed playing a false shot inside the powerplay. Following his wicket, the wickets kept tumbling for New Zealand at regular intervals and they were unable to build a partnership. There was a little partnership between Latham and Chapman but it was Haris Rauf who trapped the Kiwi skipper in front. Chapman 34(27)  pushed the pedal but the southpaw departed in the process.

Haris Rauf was quick to wrap up the tail and bagged her career-best T20I figures of 4/17. Imad Wasim bowled only one over but the left-arm spinner extracted two wickets out of that. So, eventually, it was a comprehensive victory for Pakistan and they take a 1-0 lead in the series momentarily. Stick around for the post-match presentation!

15.3 H Rauf to B Lister
W WICKET!! That's it, New Zealand are skittled for 94 runs!! Haris Rauf gets his fourth wicket of the night!! Touch fuller delivery angling into the middle stump line. Lister plays the wrong line as he plays inside the line and the ball past the bat and strikes at top of the middle stump. Pakistan win the inaugural match of the 5-match T20 series and lead by 1-0!
15.2 H Rauf to I Sodhi
1 Fuller delivery darted on the middle and leg stump. Sodhi gets the thick inside edge of the bat onto his pads for a single. The umpire signals it as leg bye.
15.1 H Rauf to I Sodhi
2 Good length delivery angling into the middle stump line. Sodhi nudges it to square leg region  for a couple of runs.
