Kane Williamson (New Zealand Captain): "I guess you never really know 100%. Just looking at some characteristics in the first game that was sort of an option and obviously someone like Ish Sodhi coming in for today's game. Regardless of the conditions he's been bowling really really well so gave him the opportunity today. It was a good team performance obviously some challenges out there. Nice to get across the line tonight.
We felt we had a good partnership if 300 maybe was sort of what we had in our mind. It was tough when we lost a few wickets but some handy contributions in the late order got us to a challenging total and credit to the bowlers in the second innings as well.
We were hoping for few more. Ish was remarkable and the two seamers at the top were brilliant. Its kinda some assistance for the bowlers in both innings with some reverse swing. Couple of tough games and looking forward to the next one."

Babar Azam (Pakistan Captain): "I think the start wasn't great, but we came back well with the ball. We started well and with the old ball struggled a lot. Credit to New Zealand for the way they played. Definitely, we played well. Rizwan and I had a great partnership. Salman came and upped the ante, but it was a tough track to bat.

Devon Conway: "We certainly were targeting 300. Especially in the position we were in, that partnership that Kane and I put on was crucial for the team losing Finn Allen quite early put us under a bit pressure but luckily Kane and I sort of just sticked and sort of steadied the ship. I will give a lot of credit to Kane. There were times throughout my innings when I felt under pressure, I felt I was playing a loose shot and he kept on saying to me to just hang in there and keep being extremely patient.

Mitchell Santner: "Yes, I think with the ball we were tighter. We got wickets with the powerplay. It spun a lot out there which surprised us a lot. Maybe due to coolness, it spun a lot and we took advantage of it. We were looking to get 300+ and lost our way to Nawaz. Our plan was to create pressure and follow the process to get the desired result. The plan was to get to 280+, but we lost our way and then it was a scrap to get to 250-260. We got there and the new ball bowlers got us the early wickets and here we are happy with the win."
10:34 PM IST: Wonderful comeback from Devon Conway, Ish Sodhi and New Zealand as they defend 261 to win by 79 runs and level the series by 1-1. Quick recap to the game, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first to everyone's surprise and brought back Ish Sodhi in place of Henry Shipley.
After losing Finn Allen early, Devon Conway, who was dismissed for a golden duck in the first ODI turned up the heat with skipper Kane Williamson and added 181 runs for the 2nd wicket. Conway scored a brilliant 101 in 92 deliveries and the captain fell short by the three figure mark by 15 runs.
The rest of the batting order failed miserably as just Mitchell Santner managed to score into double figures along with 12 extra runs. Mohammad Nawaz turned the game on its head with 4 wickets in the middle overs also accounting for the captain Kane Williamson. Naseem Shah continued his good run of form and finished with 3/58. Usama Mir and Haris Rauf got one wicket each.
The chase didn't begin well for Pakistan as they lost 2 quick wickets to the opening bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee with Ferguson turning up the heat bowling multiple deliveries over 150kph. Ish Sodhi finished as the pick of the bowlers with 2/38 with Southee taking 2 as well. All the other bowlers chipped in with a wicket apiece and there was a classic Pakistan mixup in the middle as well accounting to the run out of Mohammad Wasim.
The required run rate was never in control during the chase and there was no solid intent from the skipper Babar Azam who scored 79 off 114 deliveries knocking the ball in the leg side for singles and doubles. Length delivery on the off stump, Rauf is dancing down the track but fails to get to the pitch of the ball. The ball is very high down the ground. Bracewell runs backwards and takes a good catch.
