8:19 PM IST | That's it, Fans had eagerly awaited the start of the first match of the 3-match series between South Africa and West Indies at Buffalo Park, East London. However, their hopes were dashed as the match was abandoned without the toss or a ball being bowled due to heavy rain. The ground crew worked tirelessly to try and get the pitch ready for play, but the rain continued to pour down relentlessly.

Now, the focus shifts to the second ODI match scheduled for March 18th, at the same venue and fans are crossing their fingers that the rain stays away.

6:44 PM IST | The maximum cut-off time for the match to start is 8:00 PM IST. If there's a play, then it would be 20 overs per side.

The last time, South Africa played in Buffalo Park was before Covid-19.
4:38 PM IST | It looks like the rain has eased off as the groundsmen are peeling off the covers. A daunting task awaits the Groundsmen ahead. Well, it hasn't been fully peeled off but spread around so that the ground could be dried quickly.
