5:22 PM IST | So, the home venue brings smirks at the Sixers' fans as they get some numbers under their belt. They climb up and go past Brisbane Heat in the points table. Hobart ends up having a topsy-turvy start, losing the first one, winning the next and now they suffer another defeat.

This was it from the particular coverage. This is Arijit Kundu, taking your leave alongside co-commentator Akshay Bhide and scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. See you for the other clashes happening around our network.
Josh Philippe (Player of the Match): "We knew from the word go that it was a difficult wicket to bat on. We decided to get off to a flying start. I could have got a few more but Kerr finished the innings nicely. It's nice to come home and get a win. Hopefully, we will carry forward the winning momentum. Ali played a good knock in the end but happy to get his wicket and end on the winning side."
Josh Philippe is named the Player of the Match.
5:10 PM IST | It won’t be wrong to say that the game was sealed by the Sixers when the Hurricanes were 68/4 after the 10th over. But one wouldn’t have predicted the valiant fight Asif Ali gave at the cue end and narrowed the margins. For once, the heart might have come out of the mouth of the home side as Asif Ali (41 off 13 balls) went blazing for 6,4,6,6 in the last four balls of the 13th over.

Sydney Sixers have managed to get their maiden victory of the season and it came at their home after two away losses.

The Hurricanes seemed nowhere near the chase at any point in the match until the last over. 22 runs were needed from the last over and it was Asif Ali who smacked three sixes and a four in the penultimate over.

The spinners made things more difficult for the visitors in the primary half of the 2nd innings. Todd Murphy started off things for the Sixers with the ball in hand and was very economical throughout the innings. Steven O’Keefe conceded just 7 runs off his 2 overs.

Earlier, the openers gave a brisk start to the side and D’Arcy Short was the one to get removed in the last ball of the mandatory powerplay. Soon, the wickets kept on tumbling at regular succession and there were half-hearted partnerships being recorded.

At one stage, 70 runs were required from the last 4 overs. Asif Ali brought a storm to the Sydney Cricket Ground at the toe end of the innings. Unfortunately, he was removed by Naveen Ul-Haq at the last over and Jordan Silk was to be credited for an exceptional reverse cup. In the end, Sydney Sixers. won by 6 runs.

Winning the toss, the Sixers elected to bat first. After a delayed start, the home side was in the mood to offer a flying start and executed it pretty well. Kurtis Patterson looked a tad scratchy for the initial period of the mandatory powerplay.

Josh Philippe on the other hand was right on his duty from the initial half itself. They smashed 36 runs inside the powerplay and went on to glue 68 runs together. Jimmy Neesham broked the partnership and soon the run-scoring rate dropped.

Shadab Khan followed with two-in-two wickets and Patrick Dooley assisted him with two as well. Jordan Silk and Moises Henriques went for a golden duck this day and Daniel Christian for a silver duck.

Powered by some belligerent striking from Hayden Kerr (32 off 20 balls), the Sixers could reach a formidable total of 137 runs.

6 SIXXX!!!! Paris hits a six but it won't be enough as they fall short by six runs. Naveen bowls a low full toss on the stumps, Paris with his free swing of the bat hits it cleanly over long on for a maximum. The Sixers hold their nerves as they register their first win of the competition.
13.5 N ul to N Ellis
1 Another slower delivery on the stumps and Ellis slogs it off the inside half of the bat towards deep square leg for a run.
A misfiled and the ball was almost touching the ropes. Murphy chased back and saved it neatly in the end. 14 runs needed from 2 balls.
13.4 N ul to N Ellis
2 A slower bouncer from Naveen and Ellis pulls it towards deep square leg. Murphy in the deep misfields it and recovers quickly to keep it inside the ropes. Ellis comes back for the second.
13.3 N ul to N Ellis
0 Brilliant from Naveen. Bowls a pinpoint yorker outside off, Ellis swings at it but the ball sneaks under his bat. That should be the game for the Sixers.
16 runs needed from 4 balls now.

Arijit: Jordan Silk hardly drops a catch. One of the best fielders to have played in the Big Bash League. Silk takes a hattrick of catches on his 100th BBL game.
13.2 N ul to A Ali
W In the air and taken. That's an outstanding catch from Jordan Silk. Naveen bowls an off-cutter on the stumps, Ali heaves it high into the night sky. He gets the elevation but not the distance as Silk at deep mid wicket settles under it and pouches it safely. He was right on the edge of the ropes but he kept his cool and held onto it with a reverse cup. End of a fine knock from Asif Ali.
13.1 N ul to A Ali
4 FOUR!!!! Drilled through the covers. Naveen bowls it full outside off, Asif stands still and drives it hard past the diving covers fielder for a boundary. Henriques on the edge of the circle dives full length but fails to get any hand to it.
This is excellent running from the pair and good match awareness as well. 20 runs needed from 6 balls now.
13.1 N ul to J Paris
1wd Naveen from round the wicket bowls a yorker down leg and Paris misses the flick. Asif calls for a quick bye and Philippe behind the stumps misses the throw. The batters sneak a bye and wide signaled by the umpire.
