Thatโ€™s a wrap from our side as well. We appreciate your participation from all across the world. On behalf of my co-commentator Tugral Azmi and Scorer/Analyst Manish Bishnoi, I, Deepak Prakash, am signing off. Don't go anywhere as it's a doubleheader day in BBL so, just switch the tabs and join us for the second game of the evening.โœŒโœŒ
Player of the Match: Joe Clarke
2:56 PM IST | Deepak: After losing a close encounter in the inaugural game of BBL-12, the Melbourne Stars opens their winning account in style ๐Ÿ™Œas they crushed the Hobart Hurricanes by a huge margin of 38 runs.

Earlier, after being invited to bat first, the Stars posted 183 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. A swashbuckling inning from Joe Clarke (101* off 66)๐Ÿ’ช helped the Stars post a 183-run total. Joe Clarke amassed the first century of the BBL 2022-23 on this occasion. On the flip side, Riley Meredith scalped a couple of wickets for the Hurricanes, while Patrick Dooley and Shadab Khan shared one wicket.

In response to 183 runs, the Hurricanes didnโ€™t get off to a good start as their opener struggled to score quickly in the powerplay, and they lost Ben McDermott (17 off 11) in the fourth over of the inning, and he was soon followed by his co-partner D Arcy Short, who departed after scoring 15 runs off 15 balls. Skipper Matthew Wade rotated the strike sensibly, but the required run rate was climbing, so he decided to go big but didnโ€™t time the ball that well and departed after scoring 35 runs off 35 balls.

Jimmy Neesham and Tim David scored 15 runs in the first over of the power surge, but in the second over of the power surge, both Neesham (16 off 11) and David (24 off 17) lost their wickets. The Hurricanes kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were able to score only 145 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

On the flip side, Adam Zampa and Luke Wood scalped three wickets each for the Stars and Coulter-Nile scalped a couple of wickets while Boult extracted one wicket.

4 FOURRRR!!! Back of a length delivery on the leg stump line. Dooley helps it on its way through the leg side. Picks it and pulls it to the deep fine leg region for a boundary. Melbourne Stars cruised to a 38-run victory over the Hurricanes.

0 Swing and a Miss..!!! Slower delivery, outside the off. Dooley again tries to cut it through the off side but fails to connect it with the blade.

19.1 T Boult to J Paris
W WICKET!! A stunning catch though from Hinchliffe. Length delivery, nipping away from the batter. Paris tries to cut it over the short third-man fielder. The ball goes off the outer half of the bat and lobs up toward the short third fielder. Hinchliffe runs backward and takes a fantastic diving catch.

18.6 A Zampa to J Paris
1 Full on middle, Paris drills it down to long-on for a single to retain the strike.
18.5 A Zampa to P Dooley
1 Floated it full on the leg peg, Dooley bends a tad and sweeps it aerially to the deep fine leg for a run.
18.4 A Zampa to P Dooley
0 Leg break on the leg peg, Dooley again tries to sweep but misses it.
18.3 A Zampa to P Dooley
0 Quicker delivery on the woods. Dooley tries to sweep but misses it on this occasion and wears it on the pads. A loud appeal for LBW and up goes the finger. Dooley goes upstairs and guesses what, the ball missing the leg stump. The onfield umpire has to changed his decision.
