So, that's it for this game. England goes 1-0 up in the 2-Test series. Both teams will be back on Friday the 24th of February at the Basin Reserve in Wellington for a proper Red ball Test match. Do join us for this one and for all other cricketing actions across the globe, stick around to our network. For now, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash alongside scorer/analyst Bishal Mandal. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodbye and CHEERS!
Ben Stokes (England Captain): "Very clinical with the ball, and we did everything correctly. That we were able to respond to whatever New Zealand threw at us with the ball is quite satisfying. The only thing that will work is what will work. By bowling short, he ( Wagnor) chose an aggressive strategy, although it can succeed or fail depending on the situation. We were able to stay ahead of the game thanks to the manner we batted on Day 1. When Jimmy bowls with the new ball in such a way, it's difficult for everyone. I'm fortunate to be the bowling attack's leader. How many runs you aim for doesn't matter as long as you have 10 wickets. In Pakistan, Brookie continues the fantastic series. He is a wonderful talent, and the coaching staff deserves praise for letting these young athletes express themselves on the big stage."
Tim Southee (New Zealand Captain): "Disappointing. But credit to England for their win and we lost out on key moments. I think it was the right decision. They batted well and we bowled badly. That's it. That's the way they play. They will give you opportunitiies and we scrambled and chasing this game. Yes, the batting in the 4th innings was bad. Last night we lost wickets and today as well. I think we have to regroup and come back stronger in the next game."
Harry Brook (Player of the match): "We all contributed greatly to the game, especially the bowlers on a rather placid wicket, so there wasn't likely a spectacular performance. They went bumpers early, which I believe helped a little bit in the second innings. I played to my abilities and attempted to whack it since it was a fantastic pitch. We've been playing the same style for the past twelve or nine months, putting as much pressure as we can on the bowler. Yesterday, I hit it hard, but it might not have worked on another day. I am so eager to go out there and do anything I want each time I go up to the plate."
8:12 AM IST: So, that's the end of the game and England wins this game by 267 runs. A comprehensive win to go 1-0 up. This is their first win after 15 years as they last won in 2008 in Napier. They have outplayed the hosts and wrapped things up within the first session of Day 4 with Anderson and Broad starring for them.

Let's recap as to what happened in this Test match briefly. It was New Zealand captain Tim Southee who won the toss and opted to field first. England came out all guns blazing and scored a quickfire 325/9 declared with a couple of 80s from Harry Brook and Ben Duckett. The others like Ollie Pope chipped in with valuable contributions as Ben Stokes declared at twilight. Neil Wagner picked up 4 wickets for New Zealand. Tim Southee picked up a couple of wickets alongside Scott Kuggeleijn. Tickner got the other wicket.

In reply, New Zealand lost early wickets in the night session, but recovered to get to 306 thanks to Devon Conway's 77 and a brilliant ton from keeper batter Tom Blundell. He scored 138 off 81 balls and single-handedly took New Zealand closer to the England total. The deficit was 19 runs thanks to Tom Blundell. Ollie Robinson picked up 4 wickets for England and was ably supported by the ever-reliable veteran James Anderson who picked up 3 wickets to his name. Broad, Leach and Stokes picked up a wicket each.

England in their second innings came out to bat with a 19-run lead. Once again, the Bazball mode was on as they powered their way to 374. Three 50s in that innings from Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Ben Foakes. Ollie Pope scored 49 and crucial contributions from down the order also helped England amass a huge total.  Blair Tickner and Michael Bracewell picked up 3 wickets each while Wagner and Scott Kuggeleijn got 2 each.

Chasing an improbable target of 394 for the win, the Kiwis were blown away last night by a Stuart Broad special as his 4-wicket haul yesterday dismantled the top order. James Anderson came back well and picked up 4 wickets today to clean up the lower middle order of New Zealand. Only Daryl Mitchell stood tall with his unbeaten 57* off 101 balls. Michael Bracewell got 25 as the Kiwis were bowled out for 126 in 45.3 overs.

It was the Stuart Broad-James Anderson show as the veteran duo picked up 8 wickets between them. 4 wickets apiece for Anderson and Broad while Robinson and Leach picked up one each.

So, a win by 267 runs as the visitors go 1-0 up in this 2-Test match series. Stick around for the post-match presentation ceremony that comes your way soon.
