Milestone
That's it from our coverage of the opening Test of the Australian summer as the home team get a comfortable win on day 4. Thank you for tuning in. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee and scorer Bishal Mandal. Stay tuned for more cricket coverage from around the world.
Pat Cummins (Australia Captain): "I am very well, thanks. Not too bad. I would have bowled if required, but I was not. It feels fine and I am good to go. I think I can play in Adelaide. Hope so.  Yes, it was a good game. This is what we expected. The bowlers had to work hard and did so. Nathan loves this ground and they stepped up in my absence. Marnus is incredible. He is full of energy and keeps giving his full effort all the time. Smithy was great. Nathan Lyon loves playing here and he bowled well, kept the runs down, and got his rewards. 6 wickets to get us the win was great to see. Happy with the win, a hard-fought one and now looking forward to the Day-Night Test in Adelaide."
Kraigg Brathwaite (West Indies Captain): "Disappointed with the loss but commendable effort by the batters. It wasn't about survival, it was about normal batting. The first session was important. We still believed in our plans. We had to bat normal. Its good to see the fight from the batters but still a lot of improvement to be done. We lost lot of wickets at crucial stages. Australia played really well, we hope to do better in the next game. It meant a lot for me especially being a leader and to lead from the front, getting a hundred is a good achievement. Being a captain I want to contribute even if I bowl and get my team in a better position. We will see what is the best XI we can make and go with that for the next game."
Marnus Labuschagne: "Look the ground is similar to Brisbane. The bouncy wickets help us and this is a good wicket. The first one was special and to get a double ton on a testing pitch was great. Yes, it was a testing period, and am glad to keep it going. Survived a no-ball call. Probably a lot of credit to our batting coach. He has helped us a lot. We haven't played a lot of Test cricket and to get loads of balls thrown in was great. Not only me the other batters also got loads of throwdowns from him. Happy to be performing here in Perth and now onto the Day-Night Test in Adelaide."
Marnus Labuschagne is the player of the match.
Time for the post-match presentation.
Nathan Lyon: "Yes, a long way to go. Great start and winning the first game and win is great. Yes, we expected a tough fight and they did so. Yes, I was happy to get Kraigg's wicket. He was a superstar batter and to get him was great. Yes, we had to look after him and he looks fine. I Hope Cummins is good to go for Adelaide. Incredible. Marnus has been incredible for Australia and Queensland. He wants to be called the baby GOAT, but I am not sure whether we can call him that. But a hard-fought win and one we are happy with."
A brilliant performance from the Australian bowlers on day 4 has given them a 1-0 lead as they get home by 164 runs in the second session on day 4 of this first Test match here at Perth. Off break bowler Nathan Lyon was the star in the fourth innings as he finished with figures of 6/128 in 42.5 overs.

The Australians stamped their authority on this Test match in the first innings itself by scoring a mammoth 598/4 declaring their innings as Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith both scored double centuries with Travis Head (99) and Usman Khawaja providing brisk support with half centuries.

Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul scored half centuries in the visitors' first innings as it folded for 283 with Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc claiming three wickets each. The Aussie then declared for 182/2 with Labuschagne scoring another terrific ton.

Skipper Brathwaite and Chanderpaul provided good start to the West Indies' chase of 498 as the skipper brought up his century but was soon departed as the batters crumbled under the scoreboard pressure. There was some resistance shown later on day 4 with Alzarri Joseph (43) and Roston Chase (55) providing some resistance adding 82 runs for the eighth wicket but Lyon and Travis Head had other plans as they shifted the momentum with wickets. Lyon took the last 2 wickets on consecutive deliveries to seal the deal.

Stay tuned for the post match presentation.
