Milestone
That's it from this game. Both teams will be back to battle it out on Wednesday evening at the Nation's capital in Canberra. Do join us for that fixture and for all other cricketing action across the globe across the formats in our network. This is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Hitesh Peddurwar, and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Until next time, goodbye and CHEERS!
Alex Hales(Player of the match): "Really proud of the performance today, it was an all-around performance by us. The way David Warner and Stoinis batted it looked like they would chase it down it was a really good pitch to bat on. It's always a special feeling to play for England."
Jos Buttler (England Captain): "It was a great game of cricket and delighted to get over the line. The Aussies put us under pressure and we had to take wickets to come back in the game and glad we did.  I feel the Wade issue I was not sure about and don't know what was going on. But it's ok. Great to bat out there and get some runs for the side. Alex is a quality player and it was tough to pick between him and Salt. Glad we chose him and he was great today. Yes, he will open with me as we fine-tune skills ahead of the World Cup. Looking forward to the two games in Canberra."
Aaron Finch(Australia Captain): "Nathan Ellis bowled really well in the powerplay and whole throughout the innings too, it looked like a batting pitch, he is really a brilliant person to be in a team. Buttler is a great player and we have seen that today, we are gonna keep trying things but maybe I will be going to the top of the batting order in the next game. We were looking to give some opportunities to Cameron Green before going into the world cup."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony!!
So, Australia do get up to 200 but they lose the contest by 8 runs in what was an entertaining contest in Perth. Over 400 runs were scored today on a good pitch and it is Jos Buttler's men who go 1-0 up as they hold their nerves.

Chasing a stiff target of 209 for the win, Australia lost Cameron Green in the second over of the chase for a single to Reece Topley. David Warner and Mitchell Marsh had a good partnership of 71 runs for the second wicket before Marsh was dismissed by Adil Rashid for 36 off 26 balls. Warner soldiered on for the Aussies as he top-scored with 73 off 44 balls.

The skipper Aaron Finch batting at 4 was run-out for 12 off 7 balls. Marcus Stoinis changed the game when he was batting as he brought the Required Rate under 10 thanks to his brilliant 35 off 15 balls. But he fell and Warner followed him soon. The finisher Matthew Wade tried his best contributing 21 off 15 balls but fell in the last over bowled by Sam Curran. 14 extras contributed as Australia ended at exactly 200/9 in 20 overs.

England held their nerves in the end with the ball after being under the pump for the majority of the time. A couple of wickets for Reece Topley. Mark Wood brought England back into the game with 3 wickets including 2 in the over to turn the game on its head. Sam Curran picked up a couple of wickets in the final over and won the game for England while Adil Rashid picked up the wicket of Mitchell Marsh, as he went for 41 runs in 3 overs. They were under the pump and did really well to win as Australia were the favorite for the major part of the chase.

Earlier in the game, England put into bat first by Australia got off to a blazing start. It was the Jos Buttler-Alex Hales show all the way that powered England. They dominated the first 10 overs scoring 118 runs and they put on 132 runs in 11.2 overs before the skipper Jos Buttler departed with a magnificent 68 off 32 balls. Alex Hales played through and looked good out there with his 84 off 51 balls as he was the top-scorer for England.

England lost their way at the end overs. They scored 91 runs in the last 10 overs and only 41 in the last five overs. Harry Brook chipped in with 12 off 10 balls while Moeen Ali chipped in with 10 off 7 balls. Chris Woakes' cameo of 13 off 5 balls helped England pass the 200-run mark as they ended with 208/6 in 20 overs with the help of 8 extras.

Nathan Ellis was by far the best bowler for Australia as he was head and shoulders above the others. His 3/20 in 4 overs kept England to 208 as they could have gone past 220 from the start that they had got. Ellis was the best bowler in the match from both sides if one looks at the analysis. A wicket apiece for Kane Richardson, Daniel Sams, and Marcus Stoinis. But all of them barring Ellis went for plenty of runs as Hales and Buttler plundered them. Swepson went for 31 in 2 overs and even Cameron Green was not spared with the ball in hand in his 3 overs going for 38 runs.

It was a hard day for the Aussie bowlers who were without their main bowlers by choice and the likes of Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins, and Zampa will join the team in Canberra alongside the big show Glenn Maxwell.

So, a win for England by 8 runs as they take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series with two matches coming up in Canberra on Wednesday and Friday. Stick around for the post-match presentation ceremony that will come your way soon.

19.5 S Curran to N Ellis
W BOWLED EM!!!!! Curran gets the wicket of Ellis this time!!! Good length delivery on the middle stump line, Ellis without any foot movement tries to pull it on the leg side but misses it and the ball rattles the timber, Australia are 9 down now.
Oh, England has had to go upstairs for this one. Fair delivery and this may not have come off the bat. Over to RTS which it says is not available. It clearly is off the shoulder and not the bat. Hot Spot shows no edge on the bat and is NOT OUT it will remain and they get a leg bye here.
19.4 S Curran to K Richardson
1lb Back of the length delivery on the middle stump line, Kane tries to pull it on the leg side but gets it on the shoulders and the ball goes towards the man at short third man. OH WAIT!!!! England takes the review, the hotspot shows no mark on it, it looks like it's not an edge and it has hit the shoulder of Kane. The third umpire is checking the hot spot again and there is no mark on it so NOT OUT is the decision from the third umpire.

Is this the wicket that seals it for England as Wade departs?
19.3 S Curran to M Wade
W In the air and taken at deep mid-wicket!!! It looks like a tough task for Australia now to get over the line!!! Back of the length delivery on the middle stump line, a slower one this time, Wade tries to smoke it over the deep mid-wicket region but doesn't generate enough power on it and ball goes straight into the hands of man at deep mid-wicket.
19.2 S Curran to M Wade
0 Fuller length delivery on the off-stump line, Wade goes for a wild hoick and inside edges it onto his pads.
