So that is it from an enthralling encounter between Ireland and England. Not the first time that Ireland has overshadowed an English side. A little help from rain and Ireland were 5 runs ahead of the DLS par score after 14.3 overs. We shall hope to see some more of these interesting clashes.

For now, it's time to switch to the other game which slates at the same venue. Arijit Kundu, signing off alongside co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya and scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Stay tuned to the OneCricket network.
Andrew Balbirnie:(Player of the Match/ Ireland Captain): "Yeah, we were slightly disappointed the way we finished with the bat. We tried to create chances with the ball, we know how this England team plays and tried to work on that. I think Josh has a good express pace and bowls at the right areas.

Dockrell played very well, and can't get enough. It's amazing, we never played a game here, and to come and put on a show for our friends, the family, hope we can continue this till the last week.

We will continue to make this game a bigger one and put up some more shows like this. We have a game against Afghanistan on Friday, we have taken a bit of momentum with us
and hoping to do the same thing. We are fortunate to have castled things against England. George Dockrell managed to get the wicket which we needed."
Jos Buttler (England Captain): "Yeah, especially with the ball in the first ten overs, I think we were poor with the execution and let Ireland to get away. We weren't consistent enough with the ball and bowled all over, and that played into their hands. We were good in the second half and pegged them back. That was why we bowled first after winning the toss, and with the weather around, it was an obvious decision. Maybe 30 runs too much gave away by us. The way we bowled in the second half showed Ireland how to bowl here. Myself getting out in the first over didn't help our cause. The rain got heavier and heavier, but we weren't down as we could have a comeback and played anytime. But there is a cut-off time for everything. Ireland is a great team. They outplayed us today. We made a mistake here and now, it is a tough group. Now, the game at MCG against Australia gets even bigger. The pressure will be there. But we need to play as a group and come at top."
Earlier in the day, England had won the toss and opted to field first. Ireland lost the first wicket when Paul Stirling failed to time a 150 KPH ripper from Mark Wood. Andrew Balbirnie and Lorcan Tucker took over the run-scoring responsibilities on their shoulder and 82 runs were scored between the duo. They found the gaps well, played the field intelligently, and scored runs at an impressive rate.

A runout followed in the 12th over, and it initiated the start of a terrible collapse. Balbirnie played a captain's knock of 62 of 47 deliveries. Liam Livingstone was on a hat trick in the middle of the game and ended up with three wickets under his name. Mark Wood too bagged a three-fer and two wickets belonged to Sam Curran. Ireland could score 157 runs with four balls to spare and it seemed to be just enough to beat England with some support from the rain gods.
1:25 PM IST | It shouldn't be a surprise if rain plays a spoilsport in games in Australia during this phase of the calendar, and here's one of the upsets that we have got to witness. It could be harsh to call an upset as Ireland has defeated England on various other occasions too, if turned down the history pages. Ireland have won the game by 5 runs (DLS method) and it was indeed a deserving performance from the Men in Green.

Earlier in the innings, England started things off by offering a wicket on the second ball of the innings, and it was Jos Buttler, the skipper who departed for a silver duck. Alex Hales was the other one to depart and once again it was Joshua Little with the wickets.

Ben Stokes and Dawid Malan kept the scoreboard ticking with singles, doubles, and triples but soon the all-rounder was trapped by a nipping-in delivery from Fionn Hand. England lost three wickets inside the powerplay and could manage only 37 runs when the field restrictions were on.

Harry Brook and Malan glued 38 runs together and then the wickets again kept on tumbling. Despite being scratchy, Malan notched up 35 runs from 37 balls. Just when Moeen Ali looked to up the ante, by smoking a few blistering shots, it was the rain that played in favor of Ireland. They had 10 minutes in hand for the match to resume and England was 5 runs behind the par score.

1:24 PM IST | The onfield umpires have called off the game. Ireland win by 5 runs on DLS method.
1:21 PM IST | If the match gets reduced to 15 overs, then the target for England would be 116.
1:16 PM IST | If the match doesn't resume within 10 minutes, the game will be called off, and the result will be decided on DLS method. Cut-off time for play to happen is 6:56 PM (Australia), and 1:26 PM IST!
1:12 PM IST | Oh wait wait wait!! The rain is back and England is 5 runs behind Ireland as per D/L algorithm.  DLS Par Score after 14.3 overs is 110.
Moeen Ali is turning the tide it seems.
14.3 G Delany to M Ali
4 FOURR!! Fuller length and outside the off. Ali gets under it and slams it over the extra covers for a boundary. The long-off runs across and tries to put the ball back in the field of play, but the momentum takes it to the ropes. And the rain pours down here in MCG!
100 runs are up for England.
14.2 G Delany to M Ali
2 Hundred up for England! Short and outside the off. Ali cuts it to deep point for a couple.
14.1 G Delany to M Ali
6 SIXX!! That is a shot and a half from Moeen Ali! Short and on the off. Moeen hangs back and punches it on the up to get good height and distance on it as he goes up and over the bowler's head for a huge six.
