DG: Birmingham Phoenix have moved into the top-4 with that stunning win. The rockets, despite that loss still remains at the top. That's all for the coverage of this game. We have another Men's Hundred game lined up. Do join me, Anurag Dasgupta and Karthik Raj for the coverage of London Spirit v Southern Brave. See you in a while...
Moeen Ali | Birmingham Phoenix captain: We played well, the start was amazing. The way Smeed played in his first game, big crowd, it was great chasing. We felt we could hit boundaries, I actually thought that the slower seamers were hard to hit. We played really well. He's young, not many have seen him, I haven'e seen him, but the way he played was amazing. He really kick-started the chase, he is just very confident. We were desperate for a win tonight. The bowlers set it up. At one point, it looked like they were getting to 160, we did good (to restrict). I am for match-ups, I knew he'd come after him, sometimes you need to take the risk. I have to bowl the vital overs along with Tahir. Immy had bowled only 15 balls today and it actually worked out. (Milne) He's been bowling really well upfront and in the death. He's got a lot of skills. He's a very good bowlers. We got two home games, got to be big. They are all good teams, we are in a good position. It's a brilliant place to play, the crowd is amazing and the wickets are very good.
Will Smeed | Player of the Match: Last night I got a call (that I was playing). Been buzzing since then. It is the biggest stage I have played on, bit nervy but got into it pretty quickly. I started to enjoy it. I was nervous, but me and Finn thought we would just go out there and play freely, the coaches also told us to have fun. Every batter likes to bat in the powerplay in white-ball cricket and I was lucky to get the opportunity today. I have batted everywhere for Somerset this year due to injuries and unavailability, so I have got a taste of batting in a lot of spaces.
Time for the presentation ceremony
DG: Once Smeed departed, Allen took the centre stage and he started to loosen up a bit. The explosive top-order batter smashed the Rockets all around the park and raced away to his fifty. Despite Finn Allen's departure, the Phoenix kept the pressure on the opposition and raced away past the victory line with 26 balls to spare. Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers for the Rockets, picking up 3 wickets in his spell, but hardly got any support from the other end.
DG: Trent Rockets ended their innings on 144, and it was considered to be a healthy total on this track. However, the opening duo of Finn Allen and Will Smeed had some other plans. They literally went all guns blazing right from the word go and never allowed the Rockets to settle in properly. Smeed was the aggressor early on in the innings. He bludgeoned his way to 36 off just 13 balls and made a mockery of this total.
DG: That's it, the match has ended and it has been a comprehensive victory for the Phoenix here. They have won this encounter by 6 wickets and have collected 2 crucial points from the match.
