Player Bio

Kirstie Gordon is a classical left-arm spinner who relies more on flight than turn. She is an England international cricket player, who previously played for Scotland before switching nationality in 2018.

Born in Huntly, Gordon, as a youngster, representing the North of Scotland at football and tennis, before beginning her sporting career in cricket. At 14, she represented Huntly U-14 men’s team, and since then there have been no looking back for her.

The Huntley-born had to make a career-making/ breaking choice when the 20-year-old was given a choice to play for Scotland or take up a deal by Loughborough Lightning as a domestic player. The youngster migrated to England to top the wicket-leading charts in the Kia Super League, which earned her a berth in the England squad for the World T20 of 2018.

The spinner made her international debut for England during the pinnacle tournament, taking three wickets on debut against Bangladesh. Further in the tournament, Gordon became the go-to for her team as she took eight wickets with a miserly economy rate, in the first four games. However, the youngster was targeted by the Australians in England’s heavy defeat in the final.

The following year, Gordon made her Test debut against Australia in the Ashes Test at Taunton. However, since then, the spinner has been warming benches, as she has been slipped down in the pecking order, behind Sophie Ecclestone, Mady Villiers and Sarah Glenn.

In 2021, the left-arm spinner penned a deal with Birmingham Phoenix to play in the inaugural edition of 'The Hundred'. During the tournament, she shared the dressing room with the likes of Amy Jones, Shefali Verma, and Evelyn Jones, which would help her to take her game to the next level.
