Player Bio

Nayeem Hasan is a talented off-break bowler and a solid lower-order batter, who is coming through the ranks for Bangladesh. Nayee was part of his national team during the 2018 U-19 World Cup. With his potential, it took just a couple of months to find his way into the Test team.

Born in Chittagong, Hasan grew up to be a 6-feet-tall off-spinner who uses his height and angles brilliantly to deceive the batters. However, it wasn’t always the case with the tweaker as he initially started a fast-bowler but changed his grip when in the eighth grade. Hasan graduated from the age-group system, before donning the Bangladesh jersey in the 2018 Junior World Cup, where he played three games to scalp three wickets.

Although, the offie made his domestic debut for Chittagong Division in the 2017 season. While he represented Bangladesh U-23 to make his List-A debut, later that year. The Chattogram-born's T20 debut came during the 2017 Bangladesh Premier League, against Rajshahi Kings where he outclassed Mushfiqur Rahim with a flighted delivery.

The following year, Hasan played six FC games to bag 28 wickets at an average of 25.03, which included two fifers and a ten-wicket haul. Later that year, the selectors rewarded the spinner with his international debut against West Indies in the Chattogram Test. Hasan started his career with a bang as he took a five-wicket haul on debut. The following summer, he played a couple more matches against Afghanistan and India, before scalping a nine-wicket haul versus Zimbabwe in 2020.

At 21, the spinner has found his feet in the Bangladesh Test squad and impressed his traditional old-school bowling. However, Hasan already has a lot of competitors within the national squad in the form of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto.
